Sarasota, Fla.-headquartered P/C insurer FCCI Insurance Group recently expanded into Maryland and hired Jeanine Ferritor as a senior marketing underwriter to develop FCCI’s independent agency relationships in the new state. Ferritor will be based in Ellicott City, Md. Ferritor has more than 13 years of P/C industry experience with companies including Zurich, Travelers and The Hartford. Her most recent position was as a senior sales executive for Zurich in the Maryland and Washington, D.C., area.

Aon Risk Solutions, the global risk management business of London-headquartered Aon plc, recently hired Michael Barbarita as managing director, executive vice president of the company’s growing Pittsburgh office. In his new role, Barbarita will provide risk management consulting and risk transfer expertise to Aon clients. He will also work closely with Aon Risk Solutions’ industrial and materials practice. Previously, he led the Pittsburgh office for Marsh USA, where he was also the East partnership leader.

Boston-headquartered Liberty Mutual Insurance appointed Brian Dunham as senior vice president and chief actuary of its group benefits operation. Prior to joining Liberty Mutual, Dunham was responsible for the pricing and financial management of Unum’s large case group life and disability business. Liberty Mutual said Dunham has both the actuarial and management skills to help continue Liberty Mutual’s strong growth in the group life and disability.

Narragansett Bay Insurance Co., a Pawtucket, R.I.-based homeowners insurer, appointed Miles Hunter as vice president of corporate development. In his new role, Hunter will provide decision support and analysis to the company’s executive team and investor group. Previously, he worked for Aspen Insurance Holding Ltd. in London and New York. Most recently, he was responsible for $30 million of casualty reinsurance business with Aspen’s reinsurance department.

Greenwich, Conn.-headquartered W. R. Berkley Corp. appointed Brian Murphy as vice president, marine manager of Berkley Offshore Underwriting Managers operating unit. Murphy has more than 17 years of experience in the marine insurance market and currently serves on the Hull Committee at the American Institute of Marine Underwriters. The company also named Les Bogdan as vice president, marine liability. Bogdan has 24 years of insurance industry experience. Additionally, W. R. Berkley last month appointed Scott Mansolillo to the office of vice president, chief compliance officer. In this role, he will provide technical expertise to the company’s operating units. Mansolillo has over 25 years of legal, compliance and business experience, having served most recently as vice president and chief compliance officer of commercial markets at The Hartford.

S.H. Smith & Co. Inc., a wholesaler and managing general agent headquartered in Hartford, Conn., appointed Tom Ferracci as underwriter/manager of workers’ compensation. Ferracci comes from The Hartford Insurance Group, where he served as senior commercial sales underwriter. He has over 13 years of underwriting experience with major carriers, as well as wholesale brokerage experience. In his new role at S.H. Smith, he will be responsible for the workers’ comp practice within S.H Smith & Company’s in-house underwriting department.

The Navigators Group, a N.Y.-headquartered specialty insurance holding company, said its principal underwriting agency subsidiary, Navigators Management Co., appointed Steven Kuuskvere as northeast regional vice president. Kuuskvere is located in Navigators’ New York office where he will be responsible for leading the company’s insurance operations in that region. Kuuskvere has 22 years of underwriting and claims experience and has been with Navigators since 2001.
