Southeast Market Update: Flood, Medical Professional Liability

June 17, 2013

Frontline Homeowners Insurance, a coastal-focused insurer, is now offering wind and flood coverage to Alabama residents with coastal properties in Mobile and Baldwin Counties.

As part of its program, the insurer offers a contractors assist program that manages the entire restoration of a property from claim to completion.

Frontline Homeowners Insurance’s program for individual properties, including high-value homes, is already available in Florida and South Carolina. Coverage for condominium owners will be available soon.

Frontline, based in Lake Mary, Fla., also operates through its affiliated companies, Fidelity Fire & Casualty Co. and First Protective Insurance Co. Frontline was established in 1998, offering home, property and liability coverage.

Florida residential property insurer American Integrity Insurance Group has partnered with Wright Flood, a flood insurance provider, to offer residential flood insurance through American Integrity’s independent agents. Wright Flood, formerly Fidelity National Flood, will service the flood policies, answer customer service calls and manage all flood claims. Wright Flood insurance, backed by the National Flood Insurance Program, provides coverage for flood loss up to $250,000 maximum for residential buildings and up to $100,000 for personal contents.

MAG Mutual Insurance Co., a medical professional liability insurer in the Southeast, is now offering a suite of coordinated coverage, defense and patient safety products to hospitals and health systems.

Provided through MagMutual’s Professional Security Insurance Co., the offering combines facility and employed physician coverage for independent physician practices.

“One of our primary objectives with this new offering is to eliminate the ‘divide and conquer’ philosophy that drives a wedge between hospitals and physicians,” says Johnathan Brutlag, president of Professional Security Insurance Co.

Coverage available to hospitals and health systems includes primary hospital professional, general and employee benefit liability, primary physicians’ liability and umbrella liability coverage.
