Nestor Alfredo Milon, 54, of Silverlake, surrendered to Los Angeles Superior Court after being charged with one count of insurance fraud by the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office. Milon, who has been employed with the California Department of Insurance (CDI) in Los Angeles since 1994, is currently on administrative leave.
Milon suffered a fire loss on March 5, 2000, at his residence located in Silverlake. Milon allegedly submitted fraudulent receipts for additional living expenses and replacement cost coverage totaling $5,608.83. Additionally, Milon allegedly submitted a claim for lodging and per diem expenses to Century National Insurance Company that had been paid by CDI for expenses incurred while attending a training class in Sacramento. Milon was reimbursed $449.01 by CDI.
