American International Group Inc. confirmed the theft of computer equipment containing personal information on about 970,000 individuals. The theft took place on March 31 at one of AIG’s Medical Excess L.L.C. unit offices in the Midwest.

Connecticut motor vehicle inspectors said they took more than 50 truck drivers off the road and discovered more than 1,700 violations during a three-day crackdown on Connecticut roads called Roadcheck 2006.

Virginia Governor Timothy M. Kaine has signed a House Bill 761 bill that authorizes small businesses, defined as those with fewer than 50 employees, to join together to purchase health insurance coverage for their employees. The legislation also allows small businesses that currently have a coverage plan to increase health insurance options for their employees.

The second annual Philadelphia Insurance Triathlon was scheduled for June 25, with thousands expected to compete for the $13,500 prize-purse that was to be split evenly between the men and women. The triathlon consists of a 1.5-kilometer swim, followed by a 40K bike ride and finishing with a 10K run.
