The maximum number of hours in a row truckers will be able to drive. A recent federal court recently invalidated a rule by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration that would have extended the maximum hours to 11. Judge Merrick B. Garland, writing for a three-judge panel of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit, also threw out a rule that would have effectively increased weekly time limits on drivers’ hours by at least 25 percent.

The number of people who died in traffic crashes in 2006, a drop of 868 deaths compared to 2005. This 2 percent decline in traffic deaths contributed to the historic low fatality rate of 1.42 per 100 million vehicle miles traveled, according to U.S. Transportation Secretary Mary E. Peters.

Amount being dispersed to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office, the Orange County District Attorney’s Office, and the San Diego County District Attorney’s Office fight against identity theft violations. The funds, which will be used to purchase specialized equipment, will also assist prosecutors in the evaluation of intellectual property rights violations and other privacy violations.
