Ping An Insurance Co. issued the personal accident policy in October when Liu was named the company’s sporting ambassador. Liu, 25, pulled out of the men’s 110-meter hurdles due to a foot injury.

The drop in workers’ comp premiums ordered by Delaware Insurance Commissioner Matthew Denn, who says the rate reductions are possible due to cost control measures passed by the General Assembly this year. With the latest reduction, the insurance rates will have dropped 30 percent in a year based on the 17-1/2 to 22 percent reduction in 2007.

Department staff received 1,372 new complaints and inquiries in the second quarter, down slightly from near 1,500 in the first quarter. Fifty-five percent came from complaints related to accident and health product lines, while 17 percent came from property and casualty product lines.

The percentage of renters in America without insurance for their belongings, according to an Allstate Insurance survey. While homeowners coverage is required as a part of most mortgages, renters face no such insurance requirement. As a result, just 40 percent of survey respondents said they have renters insurance, meaning that over 50 million of the approximately 87 million Americans living in rental housing do not have insurance to cover their belongings in case of loss.

Percentage of New Jerseyans regularly wearing their seat belts, according to a new survey by the state Division of Highway Traffic Safety. That’s up from 91.36 percent last year. The largest increases in seat belt usage was in Monmouth and Camden counties.
