Employment Practices Liability Program

Nuts & Bolts: Arrowhead General Insurance Agency Inc.’s professional liability division launched an employment practices liability insurance program for small- and mid-market businesses in 47 states. Highlights include coverage for full prior acts; specific coverage for employment claims arising out of company Internet and e-mail, and a broad wrongful employment act definition. Third-party discrimination coverage, including sexual harassment, is also available. The non-admitted program offers an extension of coverage for the lawful spouse and has no exclusions for intentional acts, class action or downsizing. As part of the program, producers have free access to a third-party, flexible, online employment practices training tool.

Dollars: Limits from $250,000 up to $1 million, retentions from $2,500 up to $50,000 and minimum premiums starting at $1,750.

Carrier: Rated “A” by A.M. Best. Admitted in New York only.

States Available: Available in 47 states.

Business Owners Policy

Nuts and Bolts: Citizens and Hanover Insurance Companies have introduced a new, expanded Business Owners Policy, called Avenues Business Owners Policy (Avenues BOP), providing agents with flexible product for a wide spectrum of businesses in the small to mid-size commercial market, from sole proprietors to expanding enterprises.

Carrier: A.M. Best rating “A-”

States: Currently available in Indiana, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, North Carolina, Ohio, Virginia and Wisconsin. In September, will be available in Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Louisiana, Maine, Michigan, Missouri, New York, Oklahoma, South Carolina and Texas.

Oil and Gas

Nuts and Bolts: American E&S has a new oil and gas insurance program focused on exploration and production companies. This new program features control of well insurance coverage at competitive rates, flexibility, and highly rated insurers.

Carrier: Highly rated, nonadmitted.

States: All states plus Canada (on shore only).

Life

Nuts and Bolts: The Principal Financial Group offers Principal Universal Life (UL) Protector II, which provides guaranteed death benefit protection for individuals’ businesses or personal estates. The policy gives individuals choices in guaranteed death benefit protection up to age 121, extends issue ages to 85, premium payment options and a number of riders and provisions. Carrier:A.M. Best A+ rating

States: Initial release approved in all states except Georgia, Illinois, Massachusetts, New Jersey and Pennsylvania.

Internet Liability

Nuts and Bolts: Media/Professional Insurance and AXIS U.S. Insurance Companies are offering CyberLiability Plus coverage, which protects Web-based businesses and their content against liability. The original policy form was introduced in 1999 as one of the first coverages for cyberrisk, which is typically excluded by traditional insurance. Expanded coverage includes claims for unintentional and unauthorized tampering with or introduction of malicious code into data or systems; expanded coverage for the intentional wrongful conduct of “rogue” employees, and defense against allegations of criminal, fraudulent, malicious or intentionally wrongful conduct.

Carrier: A.M. Best A “Excellent” rating.

States: All 50 states.

Liquor Liability

Nuts and Bolts: Geo. F. Brown & Sons, Inc. (GFB) is expanding its Illinois liquor liability program to a multi-state program. Available on an admitted basis in Illinois and non-admitted elsewhere, this new program is for all classes serving alcoholic beverages including bars and taverns, restaurants, private clubs, retail stores, special events, adult entertainment, and nightclubs. The program also covers risks with late-close exposure and includes special rating considerations and improved rates for restaurants, private clubs and retail stores as well as enhanced credit for loss experience, server training, cab assist programs and neighborhood locations. Founded in 1912, Chicago-based GFB is a speciality lines insurance wholesaler, managing general agent and program administer.

Carrier: “A”-rated by A.M. Best RSUI Group Inc. Admitted in Illinois, nonadmitted elsewhere.

States: Now available in Arizona, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Minnesota, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin. Other states will be added later.
