Nuts & Bolts: American Underwriting Managers is now offering a product designed to provide businesses with insurance coverage in the event that their business operations are suspended by a public health official due to a covered contagion originating at or emanating from the operational premises. Product highlights: broad wording of covered contagions, workplace violence coverage, mold, fungus, illness coverage, insured controls use of funds, risk management resources. The policy pays per day, per location. Limit listed on the policy. This coverage is available to a wide variety of industry groups including, but not limited to health care, education, hospitality, real estate and food service.

Dollars: Up to $50,000 per day.

States: Texas, Louisiana, Oklahoma.

Greyhound Tracks

Nuts & Bolts: A program specifically tailored for Grey-hound Dog Tracks is available through American Specialty Insurance & Risk Services Inc. Types of coverages available include: general liability (participant legal liability, volunteers as additional insureds, sexual abuse/molestation); excess/umbrella; liquor liability; commercial auto; property; participant accident medical; catastrophic medical. Various deductible/SIR options.

Dollars: Up to $15 million.

Community Associations

Nuts & Bolts: Apogee Insurance Group is offering a new program for eligible community association classes including homeowners, town homes and condominium associations, planned unit developments, mobile home parks, office parks and cooperatives. EPLI is included at no additional premium for associations with 10 employees or less. Other product features include an unlimited extended reporting period for former directors and officers, automatic additional insured coverage for the property manager, defense outside the limits, breach of contract coverage (where available), punitive damages, full prior acts and third party sexual harassment and discrimination coverage. Associations must have fewer than 1,000 units and the average value of a unit must be less than $1,000,000.

Dollars: $250,000 to $5 million.

Hard to Place Commercial Property Risks

Nuts & Bolts: Klinger Associates Inc. is offering a program for hard to place commercial property accounts such as woodworkers, furniture manufacturers, cabinet makers and plastic manufacturers. (Includes Protection Class 9 and 10.)

Errors & Omissions for Agents

Nuts & Bolts: Swiss Re Commercial Insurance is offering non-admitted errors and omissions coverage for the members of the Independent Insurance Agents and Brokers of America (IIABA). The non-admitted product is designed for agencies with unique operations and special needs where coverage customization is critical. Larger agencies with expanded product offerings or with unusual ownership structures, agencies specializing in higher-hazard coverages (such as wet marine or long-haul trucking), and less experienced agencies and even agencies with significant losses are aggressively being pursued. Policies are underwritten and claims handled by the same team at Swiss Re that services the Big “I” admitted program.

Dollars: $5 million per claim/$10 million aggregate. Deductibles start as low as $5,000.

Carrier: First Specialty Insurance Corp. rated “A+” by A.M. Best. Non admitted.

States: All.

Security Guards

Nuts & Bolts: Brownyard Group’s program for security guard firms has been expanded to include limits up to $5 million. Brownyard provides broad coverage, which includes: general liability, excess/umbrella liability, workers’ compensation, property, auto and first and third party dishonesty coverage. Brownyard is underwritten by Arch Insurance Group and distributed solely through independent insurance agents. Non admitted in all states except New York.

Dollars: Up to $5 million.

States: All except Wyoming.

Luxury Home Builders

Nuts & Bolts: Quaker Special Risk announces a new program tailored for luxury home builders building homes that have a sale price of $350,000 and up. Coverage is provided for new home construction including incidental remodeling and renovations. The focus of the program is single family home construction and does not extend to condominiums or town homes. New ventures will be considered with adequate prior construction experience. Quaker has designed the program for accounts that build up to 15 homes per year.

Dollars: $1million/$2million/$2million.

Carrier: Rated “A” XV by A.M. Best. Admitted.

States: All except California, Nevada, Arizona, Colorado and Washington.
