E-SIGNATURES IN THE EU

September 4, 2000

The move is in step with a European Union initiative and follows the EU’s approval of a directive on electronic commerce that required member states to pass electronic signature laws. The draft bill will require German parliamentary approval and is expected to establish a safe standard to increase trade over the Internet. It is expected to become law in 2001.
