ROGUE AGENT IN ARKANSAS:

January 26, 2004

Arkansas Insurance Commissioner Mike Pickens issued a warning that despite his arrest for fraud, Steven Edward Gwin, better known as Steve Gwin, is continuing to sell insurance products in the Northwest Arkansas area. According to the Arkansas Insurance Department, Gwin was arrested last month and charged with a class D felony count of Fraudulent Insurance Act. Investigators with the department’s Fraud Investigation Division said Gwin falsely indicated he had not been convicted of a crime on his application for a license to sell insurance in Arkansas. The department later found that Gwin was convicted of fraud in federal court in Ohio in 1991, for which he served 20 months in jail and was placed on three years probation. Gwin applied for an Arkansas insurance license on or about Sept. 19, 2000; his license has been revoked. The department learned that Gwin sold at least two insurance products in the Bella Vista area as recently as December 2003. Investigators would like to speak with anyone who might have done business with Gwin or the companies he represents, Asset Management Group, and Senior Advisors. Comments or questions concerning Gwin may be directed to Fraud Inves-tigator Jacquie Harper at (866) 660-0888 or (501) 371-2790.
