PCI, FLA. INSURANCE DEPARTMENT PLAN ADJUSTER DATABASE:

January 3, 2005

The Property Casualty Insurers Association of America (PCI) has provided the Florida Insurance Department (FID) with the concept and funding to establish an adjuster database system, housed on the FID Web page, to speed up claims processing in the wake of this year’s record-breaking hurricane season. William Stander, PCI’s Tallahassee-based regional manager said this service should expedite the claims process by putting adjusters where they’re needed. The database will be especially useful when this year’s hurricane season rolls around. The system allows adjusters, adjusting firms and insurers to access the database through two separate Web sites via an assigned password. Adjusters will be able to enter current contact informa-tion and the number of available adjusters by county. Insurers can then log in and review the list of available adjusters by either county or company, and contact them as needed. Users who request it will receive e-mail alerts when the database is up-dated. Stander worked closely with the Florida Office of Insurance Regulation in designing the adjuster database. He said future enhancements will be added to the system based on user feedback on ease of use and accuracy.
