Darryl McDonald

Cunningham Lindsey U.S. Inc.added Darryl McDonald as vice president and regional manager. McDonald will be based in Dallas with full operational responsibility for a multi-state, South Central region. He joins the firm after 31 years with a major competitor.

CLUS also announced the addition of two new regional account executives.

Christine LeVan

Evelyn Rawls, who will be based in Dallas, has over 24 years in the industry. Rawls brings many years of sales experience, including sales at the agency level.

Tiffany Ruppel

Kimberly Stanton will be based in Chicago and will be focusing on the Midwest insurance and self insurance marketplace. She joins the firm after 14 years in the industry.

Akhil Tripathi

Shawn O. Fabors has joined U.S. Risk Brokers as a senior broker in the Dallas office. He will be responsible for the development of a book of professional liability business from retail agents. Fabors recently spent two years as regional manager with an international insurance carrier with a focus on professional liability and bonds. He also has over five years experience in the premium finance industry.

Burns & Wilcox reported two new additions in its Dallas/Fort Worth office.

As a Burns & Wilcox assistant underwriter, Christine LeVan will be responsible for providing support to the branch underwriters in daily policy processing and client service for Burns & Wilcox’s network of agents. She originally joined the company in 1998 as a mailroom clerk. Prior to returning to Burns & Wilcox, she spent two and a half years as assistant underwriter at an insurance company in Arlington, Texas.

Tiffany Ruppel joined the company as a renewal assistant, responsible for providing support to the branch underwriters in processing renewal quotes and client service for Burns & Wilcox’s network of agents. She will graduate in May from Barstow College with a major in business administration.

Harleysville Group Inc. appointed Akhil Tripathi to the positions of senior vice president and chief information officer. Tripathi will direct the company’s ongoing information technology strategy, integration and development efforts. He will also oversee related technology services, which include Harleysville’s call center, agency service center, and processing operations.

In addition, Kevin Toth became vice president, associate general counsel and chief litigation counsel for Harleysville. He will oversee all company litigation, with an emphasis on claims litigation. Before joining Harleysville, Toth was a senior associate in the litigation department of the law firm of Reed Smith LLP in Philadelphia.

James R. (Bob) Sullivan was named president of Texas-based Columbia Lloyds Insurance Company effective Jan. 15, 2005. A native of San Antonio, Texas, Sullivan has 23 years experience in various underwriting and marketing positions with the St. Paul Cos. throughout Texas and in St. Paul, Minn. He has also served in various capacities in independent agencies, most recently as president of John S. Dunn & Son Inc., a Houston-based independent agency.

Columbia Lloyds Insurance Company is a Texas domiciled insurance company specializing in homeowners and property insurance with over $25 million in total assets and over $31.5 million in written premium representing approximately 300 agents throughout Texas.

HCC Insurance Holdings Inc., headquartered in Houston, has reorganized the company’s executive management team.
Robert F. Thomas was appointed senior vice president of the company, responsible for all Surety and Credit insurance operations worldwide. Thomas, who is also chief executive officer at the company’s domestic surety operations HCC Surety Group, will relocate from Los Angeles to Houston at the end of the first quarter 2005.

Other corporate executives with re-defined duties include:

Edward H. Ellis, Jr., executive vice president and chief financial officer, will have responsibilities for all financial matters of the company, Human Resources and Information Technology.

Michael J. Schell, executive vice president, will be responsible for all property and casualty insurance operations of the group.

Craig J. Kelbel, executive vice president, will be responsible for all Life, Accident, Health and other Specialty insurance operations of the group.

Christopher L. Martin, executive vice president and general counsel; Pamela J. Penny, senior vice president of Finance; and Farid Nagji, senior vice president and chief information officer, complete the team.

Southwest Risk, based in Dallas, announced the hiring of two new wholesale brokers: Johnny Hawkins and Dan Barrett.

Hawkins and Barrett will serve as casualty brokers to round out the company’s commercial property business.

Prior to joining Southwest Risk, Hawkins worked in sales; Barrett previously served as a casualty underwriter.

Southwest Risk is a commercial insurance broker specializing in the placement of insurance coverages for habitational, construction and manufacturing exposures.

American Financial Group Inc. elected to its board of directors Carl Lindner III and Craig Lindner, co-chief executive officers. Keith Jensen was named chief financial officer, succeeding senior vice president and treasurer Fred Runk, who previously announced his plans to retire in March.

Craig Lindner has served as co-president of AFG since 1996; he is also president and a director of Great American Financial Resources Inc. and American Money Management Corp.

Carl Lindner III also has served as co-president of AFG since 1996 and is president of Great American Ins. Co., primarily responsible for the property and casualty operations.

Keith Jensen, an AFG senior vice president, serves as executive vice president and chief financial officer of Great American Ins. Co., and has been with AFG and its subsidiaries since 1997 in various executive capacities.
