Jeannie Davila

Encino, Calif.-based NAS Insurance Services has appointed Jeannie Davila as assistant vice president in charge of its new E&S Property Insurance facility. Davila brings 30 years of insurance experience to her new post. Previously, she was regional president of DIC Insurance Services where she marketed and underwrote a full spectrum of property business and wholesale excess lines activities. Prior to her position at DIC, Davila served as property underwriting manager for R.L.I. Insurance.

Britt Evers

Britt Evers has joined Grass Valley, Calif.-based Networked Insurance Agents as the territorial sales vice president for Arizona. Before coming to Networked, Britt worked as an account executive with Universal Underwriters for eight years, and prior to that he served as a retail agent for Country Insurance for five years.

J. Kevin Pedrotti

La Verne, Calif.-based American Agents Alliance announced the addition of J. Kevin Pedrotti as the association’s lobbyist. Pedrotti is the founder and principal of JKPedrotti Inc., and has an extensive background in legislative, political and regulatory affairs. Prior to the founding of his own agency, Pedrotti was a partner for 12 years with the firm of Norwood & Pedrotti. He has a total of 25 years of experience at the state capitol.

Akhil Tripathi

Harleysville Group Inc. appointed Akhil Tripathi to the positions of senior vice president and chief information officer. Tripathi will direct the company’s ongoing information technology strategy, integration and development efforts. He will also oversee related technology services, which include Harleysville’s call center, agency service center, and processing operations. Most recently, Tripathi was managing director and CIO of Marsh Affinity and Private Client Services, a division of Marsh & McLennan Cos. Prior to that, he was executive vice president and IT executive for the Fusura eAgency, an Internet insurance exchange he started for American International Group. He also served as vice president and CIO for AIG Life and Providian Direct Insurance, and held information technology management positions with the Vanguard Group, G.E. and Sungard Corp.

Kevin Toth

Kevin Toth became vice president, associate general counsel and chief litigation counsel for Harleysville. He will oversee all company litigation, with an emphasis on claims litigation. Before joining Harleysville, Toth was a senior associate in the litigation department of the law firm of Reed Smith LLP in Philadelphia.

San Francisco-based Lockton Insurance Brokers has named Roger Whitley as vice president, claims manager. He will be based in Lockton’s San Jose office and will be responsible for Lockton’s Claims Management operations in Northern California. Whitley has managed multi-line risk management and insurance claims advocacy and consulting operations for more than 25 years. In his most recent position, he focused on intellectual property and technology claims and was a national claims resource for one of the country’s largest insurance brokers. Prior to this experience, Whitley held the position of vice president and director for a national insurance broker where he developed claims consulting and operations for its Western Division.

ACE USA, the U.S.-based retail operating division of The ACE Group of Companies, announced the appointment of Stephen D. Dennison as senior vice president and regional executive, Northwest Region. Based in San Francisco, Dennison will be responsible for setting and driving the overall strategic direction for ACE USA’s Northwest Region, which comprises Northern California, Oregon, Washington, Idaho, Montana, Wyoming and Utah. He will have responsibility for the regional production plan, distribution, product sales and marketing, producer management, staff management and general operations. Dennison previously was senior vice president, West Operations for ACE US International, a division of ACE USA. In this role, he was responsible for USI’s client service, revenue production and underwriting profitability. Dennison joined ACE in 1993 and also served as the USI regional manager for the Midwest and West Coast. Dennison has over 30 years of experience in the industry and has managed property/casualty insurance operations at the branch, regional and home office levels. Before joining ACE, he held various management positions at Commercial Union and the Home Insurance Company.

Chicago-based Acordia Inc., a Wells Fargo Company, announced that H. David Wood has accepted the position of senior vice president, regional managing director of Acordia’s West region. Wood will assume the leadership of the offices in the West region’s seven states, including Alaska, Arizona, California, Hawaii, Nevada, Oregon and Washington. The states account for approximately 20 percent of Acordia’s total revenue. Most recently, Wood held the position of regional executive officer for Willis North America in Glendale, California, where he was responsible for overseeing the operations of California, Arizona, Nevada and Utah. Prior to that, he served as president & CEO of USI of Southern California.

Itasca, Ill.-based Arthur J. Gallagher & Co. announced that Chris Crawford will join its Glendale, California office as area executive vice president. Crawford will be responsible for new client development and client advisory services for signature products such as Directors & Officers Liability, Employment Practices Liability, Fiduciary Liability and various Errors & Omissions products. Crawford formerly served as a practice leader with Marsh & McLennan’s FINPRO.

Woodruff-Sawyer announced that Ron Packouz has joined their firm as senior vice president, heading its new Southern California operation. Most recently, Packouz was senior vice president for Marsh in Los Angeles, where he headed its Industry Practices division. Prior to moving to Los Angeles, Packouz was the sales practice leader for Marsh, and was responsible for the Northwest Technology Practice in Portland, Ore. office.

Donald M. Shorey, executive vice president of Los Angeles-based Swett & Crawford Group has been named Western region manager, overseeing 12 offices throughout the West. Shorey has more than 35 years of experience in the industry, having served as a property underwriter, marketer and agency manager. He began his career as a commercial property underwriter with Safeco Insurance Company and later joined Cravens, Dargan & Company. In 1987 he was named president of Cravens, then a division of Cigna. He served in that position until 1993 when he joined Sherwood Insurance Services, later named Loxley Insurance Services, as vice president of its property underwriting division. He later served as president of the company. Sherwood Insurance later became part of Swett & Crawford, and Shorey has served as an executive vice president directing the operations of seven underwriting facilities in transportation, managed care and commercial earthquake since 2002.

Los Angeles-based Brown & Riding Insurance Services announced that Lynn Hartzfeld has joined its team as an associate broker at the company’s newest branch office in Woodland Hills, California. Hartzfeld comes to Brown & Riding after working for insurance carriers for eight years. Immediately prior to joining Brown & Riding, she spent two years as an associate underwriter for Ace Risk Management, where she wrote General Liability, Auto Liability, and Workers’ Compensation risks for large national accounts, including Fortune 1000 companies. Prior to her time with Ace, she spent six years with Great American Insurance Company in the Umbrella Excess Department, where she assisted with the initial setup of the office when it opened in 1997.

Marjorie Berte of San Francisco has been appointed to the Public Employees’ Retirement System Board. Berte is currently vice president of the California State Automobile Association. She will serve a four-year term on the 13-member CalPERS board of directors, effective next month. She served as director of the Department of Consumer Affairs from 1995 to 1998. This position does not require Senate confirmation and the compensation is $100 per diem. Berte is a Republican, and the wife of former IBA West CEO Jerry O’Kane.

Marsh & McLennan Companies Inc. has named E. Scott Gilbert to the newly created position of senior vice president and chief compliance officer of the company. He will be responsible for supervising and implementing MMC’s compliance policies and programs on a global basis. Gilbert joins MMC from the General Electric Company, where he was chief compliance counsel. His principal responsibilities at G.E. included preventing compliance problems by designing and implementing company-wide compliance systems, coordinating G.E.’s response to significant compliance issues by leading and supervising internal investigations, and managing litigation related to compliance issues. Prior to joining G.E. in 1992, Gilbert served for five-and-a-half years as an assistant U.S. attorney in the Southern District of New York.
