John Delaney

John Delaney, has been named a member of the board of directors of National Grange Mutual Insurance Co. Delaney became the fifth president of the University of North Florida in 2003 and previously served two terms as the mayor of Jacksonville, Fla.

Delaney’s appointment was announced by Tom Van Berkel, National Grange president and CEO.

Ken Ancona

National Grange Mutual, a subsidiary of Main Street America Group, has corporate offices in Jacksonville and Keene, N.H. The company has more than $790 million in premiums written by more than 1,100 independent insurance agents. It offers both personal and commercial auto insurance coverages, comprehensive homeowners insurance with special programs for older homes and special discounts for safety devices.

Tom Sanzenbacher

David Gamsey has been appointed senior vice president and chief financial officer of Beecher Carlson Holdings Inc.of Atlanta.

Robert Detlefsen

Gamsey was formerly senior vice president, chief financial officer, treasurer and secretary of Innotrac Corp., a position he held since May 2000. In 2001, he was appointed to the Innotrac board of directors.

From September 1995 to May 2000, Gamsey was chief financial officer of AHL Services Inc., an international provider of contract staffing and outsourcing solutions. At AHL he led the company’s initial public offering, following on offerings and acquisitions. From 1988 to September 1995, Gamsey was a managing director of corporate finance at Price Waterhouse LLP (now PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP). From 1987 to 1988, he was chief financial officer of Visiontech Inc., a manufacturer of contact lenses, and from 1979 to 1987, he was a senior audit manager for the accounting firm Arthur Andersen & Co.

Ken Ancona has been named vice president, managing director of Crawford & Co.’s Risk Sciences Group, Crawford’s risk management information system subsidiary in Atlanta.

Ancona joined RSG in 1992 and was most recently the national marketing and sales manager. With more than three decades of experience in customer support and marketing of information systems, Ancona frequently onducts seminars on the effectiveness that can be achieved through an advanced risk management information solution. Ancona has his Associate in Risk Management (ARM) designation from the Insurance School of Chicago.

RSG has been providing analytical and data consolidation solutions since 1978 to the corporate risk and insurance community and is a wholly owned subsidiary of Crawford & Company. Based in Atlanta, Crawford is a large independent provider of claims management solutions to insurance companies and self-insured entities, with a global network of more than 700 offices in 63 countries.

Tom Sanzenbacher has received the Professional Insurance Agents of Florida’s award as the 2004 Company Representative of the Year. Donnie McMahon, PIA of Florida’s immediate past president, officiated at a ceremony to honor Sanzenbacher’s achievements and present a commemorative plaque during the group’s annual “Legislative Day” in Tallahassee, Fla.

Sanzenbacher joined the Capital Premium Plan in Charlotte, N.C., 22 years ago and was Florida sales manager in 2004 when the firm was acquired by Premium Rate Finance Corp. Sanzenbacher remained in his position with Premium Rate, responsible for sales from Pensacola to the Florida Keys.

He attributes his success to the fact that over the years he has maintained constant communication with agents on a regular basis.

For 14 months Sanzenbacher has been responsible for PIA of Florida’s premium financing program and has also signed up new members.

Former insurance studies research fellow and strategic public affairs counsel, Robert Detlefsen, Ph.D., joined the National Association of Mutual Insurance Companies, based in the District of Columbia, as director of public policy. Detlefsen will develop and direct public policy, communication and media relations strategies in support of NAMIC’s strategic objectives. He will conduct public policy research and analysis, and coordinate the development of NAMIC’s issue agenda and advocacy campaigns.

Detlefsen’s analyses and commentaries have appeared in a number of specialized insurance publications. He is the author of a book, Civil Rights Under Reagan, ICS Press, 1991, and has testified on several occasions before state legislative committees and regulatory bodies.

The National Association Insurance Commissioners has honored Rich Robleto, director of Life and Health Product Review at the Florida Office of Insurance Regulation, with its Robert Dineen Award.

The Dineen Award recognizes Robleto’s outstanding service as a career regulator. In addition to the work he has done in Florida, Robleto has been at the center of NAIC efforts to create the Interstate Compact, a system that would provide more efficient, uniform state-based regulation.

Robleto joined the Office of Insurance Regulation in 1999. Prior to coming to Florida he worked for more than 25 years in the life insurance industry. He is a Chartered Life Underwriter, a Fellow in the Life Management Institute and a Health Insurance Associate.

The Insurance Marketing Communications Association elected Peter Broadbent, chief executive officer of Wahlstrom Group, based in Stamford, Conn., to its board of directors. Broadbent joined Wahlstrom in 1983 and became president in 1998. Following Wahlstrom’s merger with Bozell Yellow Pages and Initiative Media Directory Marketing in 2001, Broadbent was named chief operating officer moving to CEO in 2002.
