Kevin Rehnberg

OneBeacon Insurance Group, a wholly owned subsidiary of White Mountains Insurance Group, has named Kevin Rehnberg as senior vice president reporting to Chief Executive Officer John Cavoores. Rehnberg will help support OneBeacon’s specialized, segmented commercial business. Rehnberg, a 19-year industry veteran, was most recently a senior vice president with St. Paul Travelers. He began his career with Chubb and also spent several years with Liberty International. He will be based in Boston, Mass.

George Murphy

George Murphy has been promoted to director of marketing for Safety Insurance Company in Boston. George began his career at Safety as customer service manager in 1989. He joined the marketing department in 1993 as a marketing representative and was quickly was promoted to a senior marketing representative. Murphy will report to Dan Crimmins, vice president of marketing, and will have full responsibility for Safety’s voluntary agency plant.
Karen Eckert has joined Professional Underwriters of Trooper, Pa., as vice president of municipal programs. Eckert will be responsible for building the municipality by focusing on towns, counties, water and sewer authorities, as well as tertiary municipality sectors on a nationwide basis. Eckert has held positions in every aspect of the placement side of the insurance business. Prior to joining Professional Underwriters, she spent six years at AIG.

St. Paul Travelers announced that Kathleen L. Preston is joining the company as executive vice president of field marketing. In this newly created position leading St. Paul Travelers’ 13 regional executives and 29 district executives, Preston will report to president and CEO Jay Fishman and be based in the company’s Hartford, Conn., office.

Preston currently serves as president of the retail annuities division at Travelers Life & Annuity, which was purchased by MetLife in a transaction expected to close sometime this summer. Preston oversees product development, risk management, distribution, marketing, asset retention and training. She also serves as executive vice president of Travelers Life & Annuity, with responsibility for communications and community relations. While Preston previously served as senior vice president of insurance sales and operations for Fleet Financial Group from 1995 to 1998.

Richard Vincelette

ACE USA, headquartered in Philadelphia, Pa., named Richard Vincelettesenior vice president, public entity, for ACE Casualty Risk. Based in Philadelphia, Vincelette will be responsible for building ACE’s public entity capability in the U.S. This division will provide coverages for federal, state, county, township and municipal government, special districts, government agencies and authorities, and the public education sector. The unit will specifically target individual entities and groups that finance a portion of their own risk.

Prior to joining ACE, Vincelette was national practice leader, public and nonprofit for Willis Risk Solutions.

The National Association of Insurance Commissioners announced that Brett T. Palmer has joined the government affairs office in Washington, D.C., as managing director of government relations. Palmer will represent NAIC members before state, federal and international groups on insurance-related matters. He will oversee the preparation of testimony and analysis of legislation, as well as brief NAIC members who testify or visit Congressional offices.

Palmer served in the U.S. Department of Commerce as deputy assistant secretary for trade legislation, and more recently, as assistant secretary of commerce for legislative affairs. Palmer has also served as deputy chief of staff for Ohio Congressman Bob Ney and policy assistant to former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich.

Beazley USA, a subsidiary of Beazley Group, announced that Jerry Sullivan joined the company as the errors and omissions product leader within specialty lines. Sullivan will be responsible for the development of technology, media and miscellaneous E&O and architects/engineers professional liability business, focusing on small and mid-market accounts. Sullivan brings 10 years of experience in these lines, gained at Executive Risk and, most recently, at Lexington Insurance Company. He will be based in Beazley USA’s Farmington, Conn. office.

Penn National Insurance, based in Harrisburg, Pa., has realigned its underwriting operations, resulting in several position changes.

Robert Brandon has been appointed vice president for underwriting operations. He will be directly responsible for all home office and field office underwriting functions. He formerly was vice president of commercial lines.

Sharon Lane has been appointed vice president for commercial lines. Lane’s management responsibilities will include commercial lines underwriting, loss control and premium audit functions. She formerly served as home office underwriting manager.

David Simmons has been appointed vice president for marketing, sales, and business development. Simmons was vice president of field operations.

George Ludwig has been appointed vice president of affiliated services, which includes overseeing the operations of the company’s fidelity and surety bonding operations, and president of ESL Inc., the wholesale brokerage subsidiary of Penn National Insurance. Ed Rice continues to serve ESL Inc. as executive vice president. Michael Greercontinues to serve as vice president of surety operations. Ludwig formerly served as vice president of underwriting operations.

Penn National Insurance sells business insurance and personal insurance through independent agents in nine states including Pennsylvania, Maryland, Delaware, New Jersey and Virginia.

Marcia L. Scadova recently joined the Concord Group Insurance Companies’ marketing department as commercial lines manager. Scadova has more than 15 years experience in commercial lines underwriting and is a long-time member of the National Association of Insurance Woman. Scadova comes to Concord from another regional carrier. The Concord Group is based in Concord, N.H., and is comprised of eight fire and casualty companies writing in Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont and Massachusetts.
