The Main Street America Group has promoted Ed Kuhl to executive vice president, chief financial officer, and Dick Schultz to assistant vice president, and appointed Tom Frazier to assistant treasurer.

Kuhl joined Main Street America in 1988 as controller. He has served as treasurer of all of Main Street America’s operating companies since 1999 and was elected a vice president in March 2000. Kuhl was appointed chief financial officer in September 2002 and promoted to senior vice president, chief financial officer, in March 2005.

Kuhl, based in Jacksonville, Fla., is responsible for oversight of all of the organization’s financial activities including the accounting, treasury, tax, planning and internal audit functions. He also oversees Main Street America’s Bonds and Investment units. Before joining Main Street America, Kuhl was vice president and chief financial officer of Sedgwick James of Pennsylvania Inc.

Schultz joined Main Street America in 1986 as manager, financial control and reporting. In 2002, he was promoted to director, financial reporting and control. Schultz was elected assistant treasurer in March 2003. Schultz, based in Keene, N.H., is responsible for internal and external financial reporting for Main Street America as a whole, as well as its subsidiaries and profit centers.

Frazier joined Main Street America in 1999 as senior internal auditor, and was named manager, corporate finance, in 2001. Frazier was promoted to director, corporate finance and investments, in November 2005. Frazier, based in Keene, N.H., is responsible for managing Main Street America’s $1.3 billion investment portfolio. He also directs quantitative portfolio analysis for the purpose of determining appropriate asset allocations, as well as chooses the outside managers to meet portfolio objectives. Additionally, Frazier oversees outside investment managers, banking and custody relationships.

Florida’s Chief Financial Officer Alex Sink recently replaced two members of Citizens Property Insurance Corp.’s board of governors.

Sink appointed Andrea “Andy” Bennett of Sarasota and Tallahassee City Commissioner Allan Katz to serve on the eight-member board. The governor, CFO, House speaker and Senate president each appoint two members to the board.

Bennett is president and founder of a consulting business that deals with corporate, regulatory and legislative compliance matters related to insurance. She also served as a Montana state representative and later was elected as that state’s auditor. As auditor, she was responsible for government finance, payroll and insurance and securities regulation.

Katz is a lawyer who specializes in insurance and health care. He served as an assistant commissioner and general counsel for the former Florida Department of Insurance.

Both were political supporters of Sink, each contributing $1,000 to her campaign. They replace Carlos Lacasa, a former Republican state representative from Miami, and John Collins, co-owner of a Broward County commercial construction company.

In addition, Carol Everhart, vice president of BB&T in Tampa, has 30 years’ experience in the insurance industry and was appointed to the board by Senate President Ken Pruitt. Everhart replaces board member Cheryl Herrin, a vice president with State Farm Florida who resigned in February.

AIR Worldwide Corp. appointed John W. Rollins to the position of vice president. Rollins will be based in Tallahassee, Fla., and will provide catastrophe-risk related actuarial consulting services to AIR’s clients. In addition, he will direct and oversee the AIR Institute, an education and training program for catastrophe risk modelers and managers.

Most recently, Rollins was chief actuary and director of corporate analytics at Florida’s Citizens Property Insurance Corp. Before his tenure at Citizens, Rollins was chief actuary of the Florida Farm Bureau Insurance group.

Attorney Janice A. Kelly was recently elected as the 2007- 2008 president of the Windstorm Insurance Network Inc., a non-profit organization comprised of almost 1,000 individuals and groups interested in windstorm-related insurance and claims services. Kelly is a partner with the law firm of Boehm, Brown, Fischer, Harwood, Kelly & Scheihing, P.A. in Orlando, Fla.

R. Cleve Folger, a founding partner at TriSure Corp., was named president elect of the Independent Insurance Agents of North Carolina. Folger will assume his duties at the association’s annual convention in October. A member of the IIANC board since 1996, Folger said legislative issues would be important during his tenure as president.

Randall Jones, chairman and chief executive officer of Maxum Indemnity Co. and Maxum Casualty Insurance Co., announced key executive management changes for the specialty lines insurance carrier. Jones announced that Joseph “Jay” Lughes Jr., former president of Western Heritage Insurance Co., has joined as president and chief operating officer of Maxum Indemnity and Maxum Casualty in Duluth, Ga., and will serve as a director of both companies.

Other executive changes include Jones’ transition to chairman and CEO of both companies that make up Maxum Specialty Insurance Group.

Harley Franken, executive vice president, will continue to oversee underwriting operations including guidelines, training and audits.

Gene Gopon, former chairman of Maxum Indemnity and Maxum Casualty companies, remains as director of the companies and will continue as president and director of the holding company, Northern Homelands Co.

Grange Insurance recently announced that it has realigned its personal lines division. Barry Hunlock has been named regional personal lines president for Illinois, Michigan, Ohio, South Carolina, Virginia and Pennsylvania. He will also oversee the Integrity Insurance region, which includes Iowa, Wisconsin and Minnesota, as well as the special lines group, business analysis and quality assurance. Hunlock joined Grange in 1993 and has more than 20 years experience in the insurance industry. He most recently served as vice president of personal lines business for Ohio and Michigan.

Joe DiMartino was named regional personal lines president for Georgia, Indiana, Kentucky and Tennessee. His responsibilities also include underwriting and research. He joined Grange in 2004 as vice president of product research and personal lines. DiMartino brings experience from Citigroup and Bank One.
