Jeffrey M. Mohr of Lewis Mohr Real Estate and Insurance Agency LLC in Baton Rouge, La., was named president of the Independent Insurance Agents and Brokers of Louisiana. Mohr previously served as president-elect and secretary-treasurer, and was on the IIABL Board of Directors for eight years.

Mohr began working with his father upon his graduation from LSU in 1982 as a CSR/producer. He became agency principal in 1984.

He was elected to the IIABL Board of Directors in 1998, during which time he served in a number of leadership positions, including on the Finance, Technical Affairs and Education Committees, the Independent Agents Service Corp. and as a member of the IIABL Executive Committee.

He is past president of Independent Insurance Agents and Brokers of Baton Rouge and served on the Louisiana Department of Insurance Education Advisory Council.

Pat Arthur, a partner at McQueary Henry Bowles Troy L.L.P. (MHBT), was installed as president of the Board of Directors for the Independent Insurance Agents of Dallas (IIAD).

Arthur has been a member of the IIAD’s Board since 2003. He was officially inducted as president at a luncheon held on Aug. 22, 2007, at Maggiano’s North Park in Dallas by MHBT President Don Bowles, Jr., past president of the IIAD and the Independent Insurance Agents of Texas.

In his role as president, Arthur will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations for the IIAD, in coordination with the organization’s executive committee. He will also be accountable for reporting on these activities to the IIAD’s Board of Directors.

Arthur has more than 25 years of experience in the insurance and risk management profession with significant expertise in the hospitality, real estate, construction, nonprofit and technology industries.

Before joining MHBT in 1998, Arthur held executive positions with two major insurance companies — one domestic, one in the U.K. — and also served as chief operating officer of a major brokerage firm in the South.

The Society of Certified Insurance Counselors (CIC) has honored Clarissa A. Preston, deputy commissioner of Property and Casualty at the Louisiana Department of Insurance, for dedication and leadership in the insurance industry.

Preston was awarded a certificate of achievement, which recognizes five consecutive years of active affiliation with the Society of CIC.

The CIC designation carries meaningful prestige in the insurance profession as it signifies commitment to advanced knowledge and customer service. Preston completed the necessary requirements and received her CIC designation in 2002.

Texas Mutual Insurance Company named Richard Cooper of Lubbock chair of the company’s board of directors. Cooper replaces Martin Young Jr. of Houston, who served as chair since 1995.

Cooper is president of National Travel Systems, a Lubbock-based travel management company specializing in Olympic sports events, government/higher education and international missionary travel programs, with offices in Austin, Dallas, Amarillo, Midland, Odessa and Indianapolis. He has served on the Texas Mutual Insurance Company board of directors since 1996.

San Diego, Calif.-based Arrowhead General Insurance Agency Inc.appointed Charles R. Ball vice president and general manager of its Commercial Division’s Texas office.

In this position, Ball will manage the daily operations of Arrowhead’s commercial auto and specialty contractors programs. This includes underwriting management and developing marketing initiatives to capitalize on growth opportunities in the region.

Ball also will cross-market Arrowhead’s workers’ compensation initiatives throughout Texas.

Ball has extensive knowledge of the Texas commercial market from working in the Southwest for over 20 years. His experience includes underwriting, consulting and most recently managing a team of underwriters handling $42 million in premium for a carrier in south Texas. He also has held positions as a wholesale and retail agent, as well as worked for top rated national insurance carriers.

John Fleming was appointed vice president and director of Business Development and Marketing for Dallas-based independent insurance claims services firm Cunningham Lindsey U.S. (CLUS).

Fleming, a 35-year veteran of the industry, has spent the past few years managing CLUS’s Southeast Region at Atlanta. Prior to his regional manager assignment, Fleming had extensive experience in sales, marketing and quality assurance.

Fleming replaces Jim Rich who is now a specialty account executive with CLUS and a member of Fleming’s team.

Privately owned, global insurance broker Lockton Companies LLC added two senior insurance executives to its Dallas team, Anthony Scott Convery and Kenneth Gould as executive vice presidents.

A 30-year insurance industry veteran, Convery specializes in property and casualty coverage, spending the majority of his career as the sales leader for Marsh’s Dallas office. Before his 14 years there, Convery worked for Frank B. Hall & Co. in San Antonio, where he held a series of titles within both retail and wholesale divisions.

Gould has more than 20 years of experience in the risk management and insurance industry. His expertise includes working with large firms on complex, global property and casualty insurance programs. He recently worked for Wachovia Insurance Services as a producer. Gould’s previous employers include Palmer & Cay, Marsh, Johnson & Higgins and Travelers.
