Privately owned insurance and risk management firm McQueary Henry Bowles Troy L.L.P. (MHBT), based in Dallas, named David Ball a partner in the firm.

Ball, previously vice president in the property and casualty group in MHBT’s Dallas office, specializes in the production and servicing of MHBT’s commercial real estate clients. In his duties as partner, Ball will continue to expand MHBT’s presence in office, retail and multi-family real estate risk management in the DFW area.

Before joining MHBT in 1999, Ball worked with Virginia Farm Bureau.

Ball earned his B.A. from Hampden-Sydney College in Virginia and is a member of the Independent Insurance Agents of Dallas (IIAD) and the Independent Insurance Agents of Texas (IIAT). In 2004, Ball was a nominee for the IIAD’s Young Agent of the Year honor and was the recipient of the organization’s Myron F. Steves & Company Scholarship.

Colemont Insurance Brokers promoted Craig Dunn to broker in the company’s Dallas office. Craig joined Colemont in June 2005 and has served as a marketing associate as part of the Financial Services team under Cindy Stowe’s leadership. He specializes in D&O,

EPL, E&O, fiduciary liability and general partnership liability.

Jason Clark joined the Dallas office of Western Security Surplus Insurance Brokers Inc. (WSS) as an associate broker.

Reporting to WSS President and CEO Kyle Stevens, Clark will be responsible for assisting the brokers with renewals, claims and general account management.

Clark holds a Bachelor’s degree in risk management and insurance from the University of North Texas and interned during the summer at Western Security Surplus.

Clark worked his way through school in the restaurant industry as an expediter/trainer.

Atlanta, Ga.-based Beecher Carlson, a commercial insurance brokerage firm, appointed Steve Denton as president.

Denton has served as the chief operating officer since July 2006. In his expanded role, Denton will plan and direct the execution of Beecher Carlson’s client services and growth initiatives.

Denton has also been elected to Beecher Carlson’s board of directors. He originally joined Beecher Carlson in 2004 as managing director.

Denton has more than 20 years of experience in commercial insurance and risk management. Prior to joining Beecher Carlson, he held several senior management positions at Aon Risk Services. He also worked at Marsh and began his risk management career at Ford Motor Co.

He is a graduate of the University of Georgia where he earned a BBA in Risk Management and Insurance.

Tom Golub remains as chairman and CEO of Beecher Carlson.

Swett & Crawford appointed Meredith Dyson as senior vice president. Dyson, who will assist the company with its marketing efforts and other related activities, will be based in New York.

Most recently, Dyson was with Mercator Risk Services Inc. as senior vice president and Northeast property manager. She began her career in 1990 at Marsh & McLennan Inc. in the risk management property division. After becoming assistant vice president in 1994, Dyson moved to the global brokering property division in 1996 where she specialized in the marketing of risk management accounts to retail, wholesale and facultative reinsurance markets. She was promoted to vice president in 1998.

Edward O’Brien was appointed as deputy commissioner of the Louisiana Department of Insurance.

He leaves his position as vice president of the Independent Insurance Agents and Brokers of Louisiana, where he has served for the past four years. He has worked in the insurance industry for the past 30 years, the last 20 of which he spent in Louisiana.

He is currently a licensed property and casualty insurance agent; however, his license will be temporarily inactive during his employment at the insurance department. He has varied experience in the insurance sector including marketing, underwriting and management.

O’Brien graduated high school in Sioux City, Iowa and attended college at Kansas State University and the University of Montana.

This position has been vacant since Sept. 24, 2007, when Clarissa Preston moved from this position to become the deputy commissioner of the newly created Office of Consumer Advocacy within the department.

Stephen Street has been picked as inspector general in the Louisiana Attorney General’s Office, a position intended to investigate executive branch fraud and waste.

Street has been chief of the attorney general’s insurance fraud unit since 2000. He is the office’s representative to the National White Collar Crime Center, and an instructor for that group on financial investigations and financial records examination.

Street got his law degree from LSU and has been a lawyer for 18 years, working as a trial lawyer, a public defender and a criminal staff attorney for the state 3rd Circuit Court of Appeal in Lake Charles.

The Proformance Insurance Co. appointed Thomas Glowacki as vice president of claims. Proformance is the main operating subsidiary of National Atlantic Holdings Corp., a provider of specialized property casualty insurance products.

Prior to joining Proformance, Glowacki served as the New Jersey regional liability claims manager for The Hanover Insurance Group, where he was responsible for claims operations in four states.
