M.J. Hall and Company Inc., a managing general agent and surplus lines wholesaler based in Stockton, Calif., opened an office in Plano, Texas, and named Brett Amick as vice president and branch manager.

Amick and his team collectively have more than 90 years’ insurance experience and join M.J. Hall from AMWINS brokerage in Dallas.

Additionally, Christine Faber joined M.J. Hall in its Arizona branch. Faber comes to M.J. Hall with seven years of industry experience in underwriting and sales. Faber will work on MGA and brokerage business.

M.J. Hall has offices in Alaska, Arizona, California, Nevada and Texas.

Dallas-based McQueary Henry Bowles Troy LLP (MHBT) promoted Donnie Doan to vice president in the firm’s bond department.

Doan joined MHBT in 1998 as manager in the firm’s bond department. He has more than 15 years of experience in the insurance and surety bond profession, with significant expertise in the construction industry and the design of comprehensive contractor bond programs.

Prior to joining MHBT, Doan was a contract surety underwriter with Merchants Bonding Company (Mutual), where he oversaw the bond programs for more than 300 contractor clients and bond needs ranging from single jobs to multi-million-dollar work programs.

Doan is involved in several professional organizations, serving as a board member and vice president for Region Six of the National Association of Surety Bond Producers, as well as a member of the Independent Insurance Agents of Dallas, Independent Insurance Agents of Texas, Association of General Contractors of America, Association of Building Contractors, American Subcontractors Association and Construction Financial Management Association.

Shawn Fabors recently joined Dallas-based RISC Inc. as chief sales officer.

Fabors has worked in the financial services and insurance industry since 1992. Prior to joining RISC, he served as the territory sales director of a leading national property and casualty insurance company. During his tenure, Fabors was consistently ranked in the top 10 percent of his peer group nationally for new business growth and renewal retention. He also held nominated positions on advisory groups providing insight and ideas to the executive management team.

Fabors began his insurance career in 1998 working for a large well-known international property and casualty insurance carrier. He held positions of branch manager and business development manager of the Premium Finance Operation, and served as the regional manager of Financial Institutions. Fabors also spent two years as a senior broker for a national wholesale insurance brokerage firm based in Dallas.

Swett & Crawford named Michael S. “Steve” Sadler as chief operating officer and executive vice president of sales.

The majority of Sadler’s career was spent at Marsh & McLennan, where in his 29-year tenure he held a series of top-level, national management and sales positions. These included managing director, Global Construction Practice Group leader, and managing director and chairman, Marsh Industry Practices.

Since 2006 Sadler has been president of Denver, Colo.-based 2-10 Home Buyer’s Warranty’s Builder Group, a new home warranty, extended warranty and insurance products provider.

Industry veteran and Dallas native Rodger Young will serve as president of the newly opened WKF&C Agency Inc. of Texas and will oversee countrywide casualty underwriting activities.

In addition, James Zagorski joined WKF&C Agency Inc. in New York as senior vice president. Zagorski will assume responsibility for the New York casualty team and work closely with Young to expand the company’s nationwide casualty underwriting presence.

Young’s 27 years of underwriting experience began at Wausau Insurance as a standard market casualty underwriter followed by several years as a casualty facultative underwriter with Swiss Re. Young later joined Gulf Insurance Company where he managed large casualty accounts and P/C programs on a national basis. Young’s responsibilities included developing and managing MGA programs.

Zagorski started his insurance career as a casualty underwriter at St. Paul Fire and Marine, followed by several years as a casualty facultative underwriter at American Re before joining the Continental Syndicates on the New York Insurance Exchange as lead underwriter for two syndicates. Zagorski then joined Thomas A Greene as national casualty facultative manager and AON after it acquired Thomas A Green as its casualty facultative brokerage manager.

WKF&C is headquartered in Melville, New York, with branch offices in Connecticut, Illinois, Virginia, California and Texas.

Allan Hildebrand was appointed executive vice president of Insential Inc., a national wholesale brokerage agency headquartered in Plano, Texas.

As a member of the senior management team, Hildebrand will be directly involved with brokerage production and development of Insential staffing, products and services.

Hildebrand has more than 25 years of industry experience. He spent the bulk of his last 20 years with a nationally ranked regional retail firm and, more recently, worked for large national wholesale brokerage. Hildebrand brings a number of strong admitted and nonadmitted carrier relationships with expertise in casualty, property, marine and other specialized risks.

Hildebrand currently serves on the Texas Surplus Lines Association’s legislative committee.

Liberty International Underwriters, a part of Liberty Mutual Group, appointed several new executives in its Atlanta, Houston, Los Angeles and New York locations. The executives bring insurance industry experience ranging from five to 30 years in five distinct product lines.

Chris Cox joined LIU’s Atlanta office as vice president for Excess Casualty where she handles up to $25 million in lead umbrellas and $50 million for excess layers. Her prior experience covers 25 years in the industry including senior positions at Zurich and AIG.

Michael Abdulahad is based in LIU’s Houston office as a Management Liability senior underwriter with a focus on directors and officers insurance for energy companies. Abdulahad handled multi-million dollar books of business at Travelers and Chubb prior to joining LIU.

Reed Henderson is an underwriting manager for Management Liability business out of LIU’s Los Angeles office with a focus on private equity and directors and officers insurance.

Four other executives recently joined LIU’s U.S. headquarters in New York.

Bob Erb is executive general adjuster for Energy and Construction Claims.

Joe Hobbs is a senior vice president and director of compliance for LIU’s operations in the United States and Latin America.

Melissa Mattioli leads LIU’s recently established Employment Practices Liability (EPL) team as vice president.

Susan Klein is a senior underwriter on LIU’s new EPL team.

Wells Fargo Insurance Services named Holly Shopoff as vice president of Motorsports Race Team Programs. She will be based in the Houston office.

In her new role, Shopoff manages the Race Team Program, which provides insurance products and services on a nationwide basis to race teams, the sponsors of race teams and racing events.

Shopoff joins Wells Fargo Insurance Services with more than 19 years of property and casualty insurance experience specializing in sports, leisure and entertainment risks. Additionally, she has focused on underwriting, marketing and serving racing teams, sponsors and drivers.

American International Group Inc. named several executives to positions within its new AIG Commercial Insurance Group, formerly known as the Domestic Brokerage Group. AIG Commercial Insurance is part of the newly created AIG Property Casualty.

Michael W. Smith was named president of AIG Executive Liability.

Louis P. Iglesias was appointed chairman and chief executive officer of AIG Risk Management Group. AIG Risk Management Group will now include AIG Specialty Workers’ Compensation, which serves small and mid-market size businesses and was formerly a division of AIG’s American Home Assurance Co.

Russell Johnston is president of AIG Risk Management and reports to Iglesias.

Douglas M. Worman was appointed president of the newly named AIG Excess Casualty Group, combining the existing operations of AIG Excess Casualty, which provides commercial umbrella and excess casualty liability insurance, and AIG Warranty.

John O’Brien, chief operating officer and executive vice president of AIG Environmental, was named president of AIG Environmental.

Susan M. Clarke is now executive vice president and chief operating officer of AIG Domestic Accident & Health.
