Hospitality Mutual Insurance Co. in Westborough, Mass., named John W. Tympanick president and chief executive officer. He has also been appointed to the company’s board of directors.

Hospitality Mutual, a mutual insurance company serving the hospitality industry, replaced the Liquor Liability Joint Underwriting Association of Massachusetts (LLJUA), a liquor liability insurer of last resort, in June 2008. Tympanick was named president and chief financial officer of LLJUA in 2004. Tympanick joined the LLJUA as controller 17 years ago. Before working at LLJUA, he was the assistant controller for Lube 495 Inc., a franchisee of Jiffy Lube.

Andrew C. Harris, former president of the Professional Insurance Agents of New Jersey, has been elected to the board of directors for the trade group’s national association. Harris will represent New Jersey’s independent insurance agents on a national level as part of his three-year term. The 30-year industry veteran is president of Liberty Insurance Associates of Englishtown, N.J., as well as its two wholly owned subsidiaries: Liberty Consulting Co. and Liberty Life Associates.

The Keating Group, a New England excess and surplus lines wholesaler, has named Todd S. Polloc president of tKg Comp, its newly formed workers’ compensation division.

Pollock began his career in 1995 with EBI Companies as a sales underwriter before being promoted to Sales and Underwriting manager. In 2001, he moved to the wholesale world as a workers’ compensation sales executive with PMC.

The New York-based Navigators Group has hired Paul Hennessy as president of Navigators Holdings (UK), Ltd. He will be responsible for Navigators’ operations in Europe, the Middle East and Asia, and will report to President and CEO Stan Galanski.

Hennessy has more than 35 years of international property/casualty underwriting and underwriting management experience. He spent 22 years with the Chubb Group

John B. Keefe has been named senior vice president of corporate development for Harleysville Insurance. In this position, he is responsible for identifying strategic business opportunities designed to increase the company’s growth and profitability. Prior to joining Harleysville, Keefe spent 12 years as a senior vice president with Ferris, Baker Watts, a Baltimore-based investment banking and research firm. He spent much of his time there in equity research, where he was ranked among the “Best on the Street” insurance analysts by The Wall Street Journal. He also has held investment research roles with Anderson & Strudwick, and he began his investment career in 1980 with Dean Witter Reynolds.

The Iroquois Group network of independent property casualty insurance agencies is planning to grow in the six New England states, and has tasked several employees with spearheading that growth.

Matt Ward will direct the expansion effort, having most recently worked on building Iroquois’ network of member agencies in the Mid-Atlantic and Southern states. He will be assisted by Kevin McKay, who handles Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Vermont and Maine. McKay has been promoted to senior regional manager and will have increased responsibilities over the six-state territory.

Peggy McGrane has joined The NIA Group in Paramus, New Jersey, as the firm’s human resources director. In her new role, McGrane will direct the insurance broker’s professional recruitment, development and retention efforts as NIA looks to expand in the Northeast and Mid Atlantic regions.

McGrane, who began her career with insurance broker Alexander & Alexander of New York, has 30 years experience in the insurance industry and human resources profession. She was previously vice president and national human resource director of Acordia Inc. (Wells Fargo Insurance) in Chicago. Most recently, she served as an independent consultant, providing professional counsel to clients on critical HR practice and policy issues.

The Professional Insurance Agents of New Hampshire has named Rosemary Goedtel to the newly created position of member liaison.

Previously, Goedtel was member liaison for the PIA of Connecticut, New Jersey and New York State. In her new position, Goedtel will link PIANH members and the association through regular agency visits. She will also serve as a resource for those agents considering joining the association.

Susan L. Monahan has joined New Jersey insurance brokerage Bollinger as executive vice president in the Commercial Lines Division. She will be responsible for the commercial lines operations in Bollinger’s Short Hills, N.J. office and will have overall responsibility for the commercial marketing and carrier relations function corporate-wide.

Monahan has held positions with several national carriers, including that of senior vice president and chief underwriting officer for commercial lines at CNA. Most recently, she worked on the brokerage side of the business, first with Brown & Brown and then at Commerce Insurance Services.

Louis “Lou” Pietroluongo has been named has vice president of business relations for The Cambridge Group. He served formerly with the New York Insurance Department, where he created the agency’s disaster response plan which was used in the aftermath of the September 11th attacks on the World Trade Center.

He also served as a member of New York State’s Disaster Preparedness Commission, Governor’s Homeland Security Executive Council and New York City’s Office of Emergency Management Insurance Working Group.
