Excess and surplus lines wholesale broker Maclean Oddy & Associates Inc. appointed Stan Ackerman senior vice president and manager of the property division in its Houston office, and Nancy Self vice president and producer in Dallas. Both report to Maclean Oddy President Stuart Dobbie.

Ackerman, most recently with Aon, has more than 25 years of insurance industry experience, specializing in natural resources, energy, power, HPR, chemical and petrochemical accounts.

Self, formerly with All Risks Ltd., has more than 17 years of experience in the excess and surplus industry and is a specialist in casualty insurance.

Also joining Maclean Oddy is Sarah Hamilton, who will assist with new business development.

Maclean, Oddy & Associates, with offices in Dallas, Houston and New Orleans, is a unit of Faber & Dumas, a third-party wholesale insurance broker.

Navigant Consulting Inc., which provides dispute, investigative, operational, risk management and financial advisory services, added K. Scott Van Meter in its Houston office as a managing director in the Disputes & Investigations practice.

Van Meter has more than 25 years of diverse professional experience in forensic and investigative accounting and litigation consulting. He has managed consulting engagements and testified as an expert witness in commercial litigation cases related to accounting and auditing malpractice and economic damages, and in bankruptcy matters, including valuation, avoidance matters, contested confirmations and claims litigation.

Van Meter was the founder and managing partner of Van Meter & Associates LLP, a litigation and financial consulting firm. Most recently, he served as managing director for an international expert services and consulting firm. He has also practiced law, including work in corporate restructuring and commercial litigation.

Marshall, Texas-based Louis A. Williams & Associates Inc. and its affiliate, Marshall Contract Adjusters Inc., added John Brewer as claims manager. Brewer has more than 20 years of experience in property and casualty claims, having previously worked in claims at Allstate Insurance and Cunningham Lindsey.

Louis A. Williams & Associates Inc. is a Texas managing general agency, property and casualty agency and surplus lines agency that also hold licenses in Louisiana and Mississippi.

Marshall Contract Adjusters Inc., is a contract-adjusting firm serving the same areas

The Dallas Institute of Humanities and Culture, a nonprofit organization that conducts public programs aimed at discovering what the humanities have to offer to the cultural life of the city, appointed Fred Wilkinson as its newest board member.

Wilkinson is vice president of marketing for SIG Insurance Professionals and brings more than 25 years of expertise to The Dallas Institute.

Wilkinson, a Turtle Creek, Texas, resident, has been a member of the Dallas Institute for more than 10 years. He is also an active member of Park Cities Baptist Church, Independent Insurance Agents of Dallas, Lee Park & Arlington Hall Conservancy, Dallas Museum of Art and the Turtle Creek Association.

Galloway, Johnson, Tompkins, Burr & Smith PLC (GJTBS), a New Orleans-based firm that has a specialty in insurance litigation, announced that Billy Swaim, James Bailey and Mike Lonegrass were promoted to company directors.

Swaim joined the firm’s Maritime Section in 2003 after graduating from Tulane University.

Bailey joined the Houston office in 2005. He specializes in admiralty and maritime litigation, casualty insurance, transportation law and appellate practice.

Lonegrass joined the law firm in 2002. He represents clients in commercial and civil disputes including personal injuries, contracts, residential and commercial construction defects, environmental exposures and land contamination.
