Novato, Calif.-based Fireman’s Fund Insurance Co. named David Zona senior vice president of product management in commercial insurance. He will be responsible for setting direction and priorities for various commercial insurance product lines and will have primary accountability for driving profitable growth. Most recently, Zona served as vice president at Nationwide Mutual Insurance Co., where he was accountable for the product management and pricing functions of its commercial lines business. Prior to joining Nationwide, he was vice president at AIG.

San Francisco-based Woodruff-Sawyer & Co. named Jim McCabe a vice president, producer in the Employee Benefits practice. He will focus on supporting clients with an emphasis on strategic planning, financial analysis, employee engagement and client advocacy. McCabe has nearly 30 years of experience working in employee benefits and health care. Throughout his career, he has provided financial and tactical guidance to his clients. Before joining Woodruff-Sawyer, he served as executive vice president at ABD/Wells Fargo Insurance Services.

EPIC (Edgewood Partners Insurance Center), a retail property, casualty and employee benefits insurance brokerage, added Beth Ward as a senior principal in its San Francisco office, and Bruce Norris as a principal in its San Mateo, Calif., office.

Ward brings 20 years of experience in real estate and construction risk management, as well as expertise in the design, marketing and management of complex insurance programs. She specializes in the construction and real estate sectors, with an emphasis on the insurance and risk management needs of property owners, managers and developers.

Norris brings 16 years of experience in catastrophe analysis and technology, specializing in large property exposures, creative program design and complex insurance placements. As a part of EPIC’s Risk Management Division, his responsibilities will include partnering with the company’s brokers and their account management teams to identify, mitigate and manage property-related risk for current clients. Prior to joining EPIC, Norris spent 16 years with the Hobbs Group, HRH and Willis.

Specialty insurer Ironshore Inc. appointed Scott Fitzmaurice as regional executive for the Southeast and John Koller as branch executive in San Francisco, California. The appointments expand Ironshore’s U.S field operations.

Fitzmaurice will report to Steve England, executive vice president, Ironshore Insurance Services LLC, and be responsible for business development in the Southeast. In this expanded role, he will retain his existing responsibilities with IronPro, Ironshore’s management liability division. Prior to joining Ironshore in January 2008, Fitzmaurice was a regional manager for AIG Management Liability.

Koller will report to Wade Pitman, regional executive of the West Coast to build upon Ironshore’s presence within this geographic footprint. In addition, he will maintain current responsibilities with Ironshore Property. Most recently, Koller was an account executive with Aon, and served for more than 15 year with HRH, FM Global, The Hartford and Atlantic Mutual.

Insurer Zurich is expanding its presence in the U.S. energy casualty insurance market by adding two executives to its Commercial Energy Casualty business unit. Greg Cropp, vice president of Energy Excess Casualty, joins Zurich’s U.S. Energy Excess Casualty team after nearly seven years with AIG, where he most recently served as senior vice president, Global Marine and Energy Excess Casualty. Prior to AIG, he served for 17 years at Chubb.

Marie Gwin, vice president of Energy Primary Casualty, assumes her new role as vice president, Primary Energy Casualty, after nearly 28 years with Zurich. She began as an underwriter in commercial insurance and most recently served as vice president and chief underwriting officer for Energy Casualty.
