K&K Insurance, based in Ft. Wayne, Ind., named Todd Bixler president and CEO. Bixler joined K&K Insurance in 1986 as controller, responsible for financial reporting and accounting operations. His subsequent positions of increasing responsibility with K&K included chief financial officer, chief administrative officer and executive vice president, and chief operating officer.

K&K Insurance also has added the following new members to its regional sales force:

James Algeo serves the Northeast territory including Connecticut, Delaware, Massachusetts, Maryland, Maine, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island and Vermont.

Mark Meyer will handle the Western territory including Arizona, California, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, Oregon, Utah, Washington and Wyoming.

The Southern territory will be managed by Robert Ruiz and includes the states of Arkansas, Colorado, Louisiana, New Mexico, Oklahoma and Texas.

The Midwestern territory of Iowa, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, North Dakota, Nebraska, Ohio, South Dakota and Wisconsin will be served by Jim Stein.

Lou Valentic, senior vice president, national account manager, will continue to manage national accounts and maintain existing relationships.

All regional sales representatives will report to Matt Sackett, senior vice president and national sales manager.

Columbus, Ohio-based Grange Insurance promoted Elizabeth Dinnin to president of commercial lines. In this role, she will be responsible for the overall growth and profitability of the company’s $200 million book of business. Dinnin previously served as vice president of Grange’s commercial package business. Before joining Grange in 2008, Dinnin served as senior vice president and regional manager for FCCI Insurance Group.

Nebraska Gov. Dave Heineman announced that Ann Frohman, director of the Nebraska Department of Insurance (DOI), is planning to step down from the post she has held for nearly three years to pursue other opportunities in the private sector. She has worked for the state of Nebraska for more than 20 years. Frohman became director in November 2007 after serving briefly as acting director. Her resignation is effective Oct. 29.

Insurance broker and risk adviser Marsh appointed John Johnson Construction Practice leader for its Midwest West Partnership. In his new role, Johnson is responsible for new business growth and client service for the construction industry in the West Partnership, which includes offices in Chicago, Minneapolis and Milwaukee.

Johnson brings more than 26 years of construction risk management experience to Marsh. He joins from Willis, where he led the Chicago Construction Practice, the firm’s largest construction practice in the Midwest.

He will be based in Marsh’s Chicago office and will report to Greg Stanbury, Midwest Zone leader and West Partnership leader.

Michigan-based specialty insurance program manager Meadowbrook Insurance Group Inc. appointed John P. Shallcross director of Investor Relations & Capital Strategies. Shallcross joined Meadowbrook two years ago, working primarily on special projects in the accounting and finance department. Prior to joining Meadowbrook, he spent several years as an analyst at a middle market private equity firm. He began his career at Ernst & Young.

David Froscheiser joined the Kansas City, Mo., office of privately held insurance broker Lockton as an executive benefits producer with Lockton Financial Advisors LLC.

Prior to joining Lockton, Froscheiser worked the Hartford Life Insurance Cos. in Overland Park, Kan., where he was an Estate & Business Planning consultant.
