Provider Insurance has appointed Lynn Cubano as personal lines account manager. She will be responsible for acquiring new clients and expanding existing accounts in the personal lines division of the Massachusetts-based agency’s office in Needham. The 16-year industry veteran previously served as an account manager and quality control analyst.

Main Street Insurance Agencies, an alliance of agencies in Massachusetts, has elected new officers. Colleen Herlihy, of Herlihy Insurance Group in Worcester, is president. Vice presidents are Thomas F. Bagley III, of Anderson, Bagley & Mayo Insurance Agency in Leominster; Cary R. Jubinville, of Jubinville Insurance Group in South Hadley; and George A. Ryan Jr., of Wheeler & Taylor in Great Barrington. W. Kelly Collins, of Colt Insurance in Pitssfield, was elected treasurer. Sandra L. Brodeur, of Canary Blomstrom Insurance Agency in Feeding Hills, is secretary.

W.R. Berkley Corp. appointed Nelson Tavares to the newly created office of senior vice president of claims. Tavares has over 20 years of experience in the property casualty insurance industry, having served as a senior executive at a leading international insurance company where he was the global head of large and complex claims.

Specialty insurer Aspen has established a surety unit that will focus on public and private commercial and non-construction surety. Michael Toppi, executive vice president of Aspen U.S. Insurance, will lead the unit. Mathew Raino, will serve as vice president of commercial surety, and Ryan Field, as assistant vice president of commercial surety. Toppi has 23 years of experience in the surety business. He joins Aspen from Travelers Bond & Financial Products. Prior to his insurance career, Toppi worked as a police officer in Hartford, Connecticut and served in the United States Air Force. Raino joins Aspen from Travelers Bond & Financial Products where his responsibilities included production, underwriting and portfolio management for the southern region of the U.S., with a particular focus on the energy and municipal solid waste industries. Field is a specialist in commercial surety. He also joins Aspen from Travelers Bond & Financial Products, where he was responsible for underwriting and portfolio management e southern U.S., with a focus on the mining & mineral industry. Prior to his insurance career, Field worked in the wholesale mortgage division at Deutsche Bank. All three are based in Rocky Hill, Connecticut.

Insurer XL has appointed Robert C. Schenone as vice president and senior class underwriter in its space underwriting unit. Schenone, who will be based in New York, joins XL Insurance from Sciemus Ltd., where he served as head of the company’s Americas operation and lead satellite underwriter. He has held previous positions with ACE in Bermuda as a satellite underwriter and more than 15 years with Marsh Inc. in both the U.S. and Bermuda.

Pennsylvania-based insurance broker KMRD Partners has added Ryan Heinig and Brendan McPoyle as producers. The two will serve as sales and relationship managers, and perform risk management and coverage needs assessments for new clients.

Heinig previously worked in workers’ compensation claims and sales of commercial human resources services. McPoyle previously served as a product manager with a global automotive products company.

New Jersey-based broker Couch Braunsdorf Insurance Group has hired Todd Routzahn as a regional sales director for its professional liability division. Routzahn will focus on the Washington D.C. area, and help grow the mid-Atlantic presence for Couch Braunsdorf, which is the exclusive administrator for Zurich’s lawyers professional liability program in Maryland, D.C. and Virginia.
