Baldwin & Lyons Inc., headquartered in Indianapolis, promoted Mark Bonini to executive vice president of sales, marketing and underwriting; Jim Isham to senior vice president of administration; and Craig Morfas to senior vice president of claims, legal and corporate secretary.

These management changes follow the December 2010 decision by the board of directors to name Joe DeVito CEO, in addition to his role as president and chief operating officer.

Employed by the company since 1985, Bonini previously served as vice president of sales and marketing. In that role, he was responsible for the distribution of all Protective and Sagamore products, as well as the company’s brokerage operations.

Isham, who has been with Baldwin & Lyons since 1984, has served as vice president of administration and chief information officer for 20 years. He has been responsible for overseeing all information technology, computer operations, facilities, administration services and corporate communications.

Morfas, former vice president of claims, joined Baldwin & Lyons in 1986. He has overseen all claims operations since 2007.

Since its founding in 1930, Baldwin & Lyons has specialized in providing property/casualty insurance products for companies in the transportation industry. In addition, the company now offers more than a dozen different specialty products, services and operates two insurance brokerage firms and four insurance companies.

Gerald D. Stephens, founder and chairman of the board of Peoria, Ill.-based RLI Corp., announced that he intends to retire from the RLI board of directors effective May 5, 2011.

RLI President and CEO Jonathan E. Michael has been appointed to serve as chairman of the board, in addition to his other responsibilities, following Stephens’ retirement.

Stephens founded RLI in 1961. Under Stephens’ leadership, RLI was able to identify underserved opportunities in the insurance market and profitably covered difficult risks typically eschewed by larger multi-line insurers. He was instrumental in the company’s growth, and as a result, RLI now offers a multitude of property/casualty and surety bond coverages. RLI’s employee stock ownership plan was also a result of Stephens’ vision for creating an ownership culture with shared rewards.

During the past 50 years, Stephens also served in leadership roles within many insurance industry organizations, such as the Property Casualty Insurers Association of America and the American Institute of Chartered Property Casualty Underwriters.

Rockhill Insurance Co., a member of Columbus, Ohio-based State Auto Group, appointed A.Q. “Skip” Orza II to leads its management and professional liability insurance division.

Orza is a recognized expert in the professional liability insurance sector with more than 30 years of industry experience. Most recently, he was vice president and manager of the executive products group at RLI Insurance Co., where he led all underwriting and operational functions.

During a more than 20 year career with Chubb, Orza served in a number of roles, including underwriter, New York zonal manager, and vice president and worldwide manager of directors’ and officers’ underwriting.

The Iroquois Group named Terry Brown, regional manager for Missouri, Kansas and Nebraska. Brown has more than 28 years of experience in the property and casualty insurance industry. He was a regional manager for a captive insurance and membership-based company for more than 27 years, as well as a producer prior to sales management.

The Iroquois Group is a network of property and casualty insurance agencies with more than 1,800 member agents in 37 states.
