Jennifer McPhillips was promoted to senior director of federal government affairs for the Independent Insurance Agents & Brokers of America (the Big “I”) and will serve as one of the association’s Democrat lobbyists on the group’s bipartisan Capitol Hill team. McPhillips previously served as senior director of political affairs in charge of the group’s grassroots program and assisting with the management of the Big “I” political action committee, InsurPac. She first joined the Big “I” team in 2006 after working for Rep. Leonard Boswell, D-Iowa.

Denver-based Signature Select LLC, a retail insurance broker subsidiary of The IMA Financial Group Inc., expanded its commercial lines insurance practice in Denver and added Jim C. Tolliver as a business development executive.

Tolliver has worked in the insurance industry since 1998 for regional and national insurance brokers.

The board of directors of Kent, Wash.-based Bell-Anderson Agency Inc. elevated Steven Tanta as the newest shareholder in the agency.

Tanta specializes in handling insurance placement and risk management for the construction, real estate and manufacturing sectors.

Founded in 1929, Bell-Anderson Agency Inc. is a regional insurance brokerage in the Pacific Northwest.

ClearSide General named Denise Robles business development specialist. She has a background in the banking industry, with more than eight years of experience. At Wells Fargo, she held a variety of positions from Internet sales representative to home mortgage account executive. Most recently, she worked as a sales agent in Arizona for 21st Century Insurance.

At ClearSide, Robles will develop and establish relationships with producers throughout Northern California covering as far south as Bakersfield.

San Diego-based BB&T-John Burnham Insurance Services announced that Jim Williams joined the agency as vice president. Williams will specialize in commercial insurance with an emphasis in construction. The 20-year industry veteran will handle new business generation for the BB&T-John Burnham agency, a division of BB&T Insurance Services of California.

AWISpro, the executive, professional, and environmental risk division of Arrowhead Wholesale Insurance Services LLC, hired Toby Fisher as allied health care specialist to expand the capabilities of the business unit. Fisher joins AWISpro from Sullivan Brokers, where he served in various senior brokerage roles within its professional liability division. Prior to that, he worked at Sullivan Heathcare and Peachtree West.

Beacon Hill Associates Inc. hired Allison McGreal as assistant vice president in the Underwriting division to open a new office in Denver. The location and the addition of McGreal is designed to enable Beacon Hill to take advantage of the opportunities presented to its PartnerOne Environmental in-house underwriting division. McGreal has knowledge of the environmental marketplace.

BB&T Tanner Insurance Services added Brad Orr to its surety department, to help grow that business in Northern California.

EPIC (Edgewood Partners Insurance Center), a retail property, casualty insurance brokerage and employee benefits consultant, added Amenda-Ming Chen as an employee benefits account executive in its San Francisco office.

Prior to joining EPIC, Chen was a health and benefits associate at Aon Hewitt.
