Rich Poirier, a 20-year insurance industry veteran, was named vice president of claims at Church Mutual Insurance Co. Poirier previously served in senior staff roles at Liberty Mutual Agency Markets Corp. and Wausau Insurance Cos.; most recently as senior vice president and general manager of claims for the Liberty Mutual. He joined the Liberty Mutual/Wausau Insurance group in 1994 as a liability claims supervisor in Wausau.

J.M. Wilson, a managing general agency based in Kansas City, Mo., added Ariynna Garrison as a property and casualty underwriter. Garrison quotes new and renewal accounts for a variety of commercial P/C risks. She also handles all existing P/C accounts, including endorsements, audits and cancelations, for independent agents in Missouri, Kansas, Arkansas, Oklahoma, Mississippi and Alabama.

Garrison began her insurance career in 2004, working for another local managing general agent. She is a licensed agent in Missouri and Kansas, and is pursuing her certified insurance counselor (CIC) designation.

Marsh & McLennan Cos. appointed Daniel S. Glaser to the newly created position of group president and chief operating officer. Glaser previously had been chairman and CEO of Marsh. He will continue to report to Brian Duperreault, president and CEO of Marsh & McLennan Cos.

Peter Zaffino was named president and CEO of Marsh Inc. Zaffino previously was president and CEO of Guy Carpenter.

Alexander Moczarski was appointed president and CEO of Guy Carpenter. He had been president of the international division of Marsh Inc. Moczarski has more than 30 years of experience in the insurance industry.

Joe Garber was named chief legal counsel at the Ohio Department of Insurance. Garber previously worked at Nationwide Mutual Insurance Co., where he served as managing counsel in the Office of General Counsel.

Christian Rebello joined Iroquois Group Great Lakes as the regional manager for Illinois and Wisconsin. Rebello comes to the Iroquois Group from a top 20 independent agency in the Chicago area, where he was an assistance vice president and producer.

Kansas Commissioner of Insurance Sandy Praeger named Tom Whalen Producers Division director at the Kansas Insurance Department. Nancy Strasburg, who has been acting division director, returns to her position as assistant director of the division.

Ohio-based Hylant Group, promoted two in its environmental practice group. Don Bryant, vice president, is now practice leader of Hylant’s environmental practice group. Bruce Kranz, who led the expanding practice group for 11 years, was named senior vice president.

Bryant has more than 25 years of environmental experience, including the past seven years with Hylant Group. He specializes in assessing the risks associated with owning and operating commercial and industrial property.

Kranz, a former coal miner, construction contractor and environmental engineer, has been a leader in the environmental world for more than 30 years.

John Landry joined Crump Insurance Services Inc.’s (Crump P&C) national property practice as senior vice president in Cincinnati. He will focus on large property accounts, including real estate and habitational risks.

Landry has more than 14 years of engineering and underwriting experience, as well as several years as a wholesale broker. He previously worked with St. Paul Cos. and USF&G, where he specialized in fire protection engineering and catastrophe risk management.
