Anthony A. Ambrose has been promoted to vice president and senior broker at New York-based wholesale broker Russell Bond. Ambrose joined Russell Bond in 1994 and is currently responsible for financial institutions, medical professional, errors & omissions, environmental and complex property, casualty and excess.

Aspen U.S. Insurance has appointed Jonathan O’Hara senior vice president of marine claims. He has 20 years of marine insurance claims and subrogation experience. He began his career in London with WK Webster before being assigned to New York to grow its U.S. business operations. He has since held positions at VeriClaim, AIG and XL Specialty. O’Hara is a director and former president of the Marine Claims and Recovery Forum and is a director of the Marine and Insurance Claims Association.

Philadelphia Insurance Cos. has promoted Brian O’Reilly to senior vice president of marketing. O’Reilly, who started his career over 20 years ago with the company, manages the insurer’s metro region and will now also oversee the mid-Atlantic region in his new position. Since becoming regional vice president in 2004, he has guided Philadelphia Insurance Co.’s metro region from $70 million to $230 million in annual business. He first joined Philadelphia Insurance as a marketing representative in 1990 and has held various positions since then, including regional sales manager and assistant vice president of marketing.

Dennis J. Hayes has been appointed chief executive deputy director of the New York State Insurance Fund (NYSIF). Hayes has 29 years experience as an attorney specializing in insurance, reinsurance and receivership matters. He has been a senior executive at the New York Liquidation Bureau since 1996. He previously served as assistant special deputy superintendent of the liquidation unit, where he oversaw the reinsurance and estate management divisions, starting in April 2007. He was named special deputy superintendent in September 2009. He began his career in the insurance industry in 1982 as an attorney for the New York Insurance Exchange. Hayes assumes his new position on July 1.

Massachusetts-based broker The Keating Group has appointed John M. Grise vice president of professional liability. Grise, based in Southborough, will lead the wholesale broker’s professional liability team in the New England region. He joins the firm from a regional wholesaler where he had worked for the prior six years. He has 13 years experience as a professional liability broker.

RLA Insurance Intermediaries has named Tim Halisky president of RLA Mid-Atlantic. Halisky – who most recently served as vice president of sales and marketing for K&B Underwriters – will spearhead the opening of RLA’s Washington D.C. area office along with the creation of a new, national healthcare practice. He brings more than a decade of property/casualty brokerage and underwriting experience to his new position at RLA, with special focus on healthcare placements including senior living facilities, allied healthcare and hospitals.

Maine-based Great Falls Insurance Co., a newly licensed insurer specializing in workers’ compensation, has named Gary Hall as president and CEO. Hall has three decades of insurance experience, with a majority of that experience being in Maine and northern New England. He most recently served as branch vice president for CNA with leadership responsibility for New England. Prior to CNA, he was one of the founding executives at Acadia Insurance Co., developing and managing the underwriting and marketing areas as the company expanded from its origins in Maine to operating throughout New England and New York. He has also worked in the agency side of the business, having held management and production roles for two major Maine agencies.
