Maryland-based agency Palumbo Insurance Associates has named Edmund Thomas Palumbo account executive. Palumbo, a licensed insurance producer since 2007, worked in sales and insurance before joining the Marine Corps Reserve in 2008. He will be working with clients in all areas of markets served by Palumbo Insurance Associates which includes government contractors, healthcare professionals and construction.

TD Insurance has named Joseph W. Valerio senior vice president — regional sales manager for the Mid-Atlantic region. Valerio will be based in Mt. Laurel, N.J., and will be responsible for market growth and sales leadership through a network of multiple bank channels from New York City to Washington, D.C. He has 14 years of insurance experience. Prior to joining TD Insurance, he served as a managing director for Wells Fargo Insurance Services in Philadelphia, and before that, as regional operations officer at Willis North America, Inc., in New York. Prior to joining the insurance industry, Valerio spent six years as an offensive lineman with the NFL’s Kansas City Chiefs. He also spent time as a television Kansas City sports anchor and radio talk show host.

Rhode Island-based agency DeCotis Insurance Associates has named Joshua Hankin as senior account executive. He will be responsible for the growth and development of professional liability lines of insurance throughout New England. He will be based in Braintree, Massachusetts. Most recently Joshua was with Hiscox USA as an assistant vice president for the Northeast region.

Hartford-based E&S broker S.H. Smith & Co. has hired Jonathan Kinder as an underwriter. Kinder joins the in-house underwriting department and will work on new and renewal business. It’s a second stint at S.H. Smith for Kinder: He previously worked as an underwriter for the firm from 2005 to 2009.

Boston-based ProMutual Group appointed Jeff Lunn as senior strategist for health care. He previously served as a senior marketing representative for the company’s Massachusetts territory. Lunn will lead in the research, strategy and implementation of company changes surrounding healthcare and medical professional liability reform. Lunn has more than 25 years of experience in the insurance, technology and health care industries.

Patricia Roth has joined XS Brokers Insurance Agency Inc., an excess and surplus lines wholesale brokerage and managing general agency firm based in Quincy, Mass. Roth has joined the firm’s senior management team as an executive vice president in order to head-up the launching of a new Connecticut office for XS Brokers. Roth was formerly with wholesaler S.H. Smith & Co., for 17 years.

Maryland’s IWIF Workers’ Compensation Insurance has named a new slate of officers for its board. Leonard Schuler Jr. will serve as chairman, Lewis C. Powell as vice chairman, Rocky V. Gonzalez as secretary and Joseph M. Coale will serve as treasurer. The other board members are Patricia McHugh Lambert, immediate past chair, Charles Dankmeyer, Paul V. Gill Sr. and Kenneth Nwafor.

Maran Corporate Risk Associates named Jiyun Yuh director of claims and risk control. Yuh has more than 20 years of experience in the insurance industry. She served for five years as vice president and senior claims consultant at Conner Strong in Marlton, New Jersey, before joining the Maran agency in its Voorhees office. Previously she was at RSA Surplus Lines Insurance Co., in Cherry Hill, for six years, rising to the post of vice president and claims manager. Maran is a full service insurance agency and consulting firm.
