Wholesaler Swett & Crawford has added Ricky Dawson to its casualty staff in New York. Dawson, who has a background in both insurance wholesale brokerage and underwriting, previously served as a wholesale broker with Combined Marketing Services Inc., where he produced, managed and underwrote a book of business that included property and casualty insurance. Previously, he was an underwriter at AutoOne Insurance

Boston-based ProMutual Group appointed Jeff Lunn as senior strategist for health care. Lunn has more than 25 years of experience in the insurance, technology and health care industries. He joined ProMutual Group in 2003. He previously served as a senior marketing representative for the company’s Massachusetts territory. Lunn will play a leading role in the research, strategy and implementation of any company changes surrounding healthcare and medical professional liability reform.

Connecticut-based excess/surplus broker S.H. Smith & Co. has hired Timothy Sullivan as vice president of its Massachusetts office and added Kevin Muller as assistant account manager. Sullivan will be responsible for introducing retail agents to the company’s programs and products in the Northeast. The 10-year industry veteran most recently served as vice president of programs at American First Insurance. Muller, who most recently served as associate underwriter at WKF&C Agency, will be responsible for the placement of property and inland marine coverage.

Massachusetts-based XS Brokers Insurance Agency Inc., has promoted Tony Constanzo to executive vice president. Constanzo has been with XS Brokers for over eight years, and is a 20-year industry veteran. Prior to joining XS, he worked at Quaker Special Risk and S.H. Smith & Co.

Pennsylvania-based USG Holding/Insurance Services Inc. has named Gabriella Gallucci as marketing coordinator and Liz Furrer as marketing assistant based in USG’s Canonsburg office. Gallucci most recently served as provider service representative with Highmark, and has also held positions at Lifestyle Innovations and as a marketing and communications intern at USG. Furrer most recently served as marketing and communications Intern for Penn State University’s Career Services, and she has also served as marketing and communications intern at USG.

The Physician Insurers Association of America (PIAA) has named former Maine insurance commissioner Brian K. Atchinson president and chief executive officer. He succeeds Lawrence E. Smarr, who is leaving the PIAA – a Maryland-based trade group for medical professional liability insurers – after 19 years. Atchinson most recently served as acting head of institutional relations at The Geneva Association. From 1992 to 1997, Atchinson was the Maine superintendent of insurance and also an officer and president of the National Association of Insurance Commissioners from 1994 to 1997. While in Maine from 1997 to 2001, he served as managing counsel and vice president of Unum Corp. From 2001 to 2010, Atchinson also served as president and chief executive officer of the Insurance Marketplace Standards Association in Bethesda, Maryland, an life insurance trade association.

Insurance broker Marsh has named Ryan A. Barber to the newly created role of head of Industry Specialization within its U.S. Property Practice. Barber will be responsible for industry-based risk advisory and insurance placement strategies within the Property Practice. He will address the unique risks of each industry, including health care, real estate and retail. Barber brings to Marsh 15 years of experience. After spending the first seven years of his career with Marsh, Barber worked at Willis as a senior property broker. Most recently, he was with Integro’s U.S. Property Practice. He will be based in New York and report to Duncan Ellis, U.S. Property Practice Leader.
