Sandra Helin has been elected president of Southwestern Insurance Information Service. Helin will succeed Jerry Johns, who retires March 1, 2012.

A 13-year veteran of SIIS, Helin previously served as director of public affairs. She is also director of the Texas Action Council on Theft, a sister organization of SIIS.

Helin will manage insurance industry communication initiatives in Texas and Oklahoma.

Southwestern Insurance Information Service is a 59-year-old, non-profit public information association of property and casualty insurance companies operating in Texas and Oklahoma.

The Texas Windstorm Insurance Association (TWIA) named Pete Gise as controller and David Williams as vice president of claims.

As controller, Gise manages financial reporting, accounts receivable processing and remittances, accounts payable, reinsurance accounting, and budgeting and planning.

Throughout his 28-year career, Gise has worked in leadership positions primarily in the property/casualty insurance industries. Prior to TWIA, he worked as the chief financial officer of the commercial specialty segment at the Argo Group. He also has held positions with the United Services Automobile Association (USAA) in addition to a number of financial management roles at various companies.

Williams is responsible for overseeing all operations related to claims processing for the organization.

During his 27-year insurance claims career, Williams has developed expertise improving customer service initiatives, overseeing cost controls, and using process management and technology to solve business problems. He has advanced leadership experience with catastrophe, large loss, litigation, special investigations, recovery, compliance and claims management. He has held a variety of positions including field multi-line claims adjuster, and branch, regional, and home office claims leadership roles for national insurance entities including those with significant property insurance business in Texas.

Williams holds the Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter and Associate in Claims professional designations.

The Texas Windstorm Insurance Association (TWIA) is the state’s insurer of last resort for wind and hail coverage in the 14 coastal counties and parts of Harris County (east of Highway 146).

The board of directors of Louisiana Workers’ Compensation Corp. (LWCC) has elected its officers for 2012. They are: Donald T. “Boysie” Bollinger, chairman; Murphy J. “Mike” Foster, Jr., vice chairman; and James N. “Jim” Hall, secretary.

Aubrey T. Temple, Jr., LWCC’s original chairman since 1991, chose not to seek reelection to the post and remains a board member.

Bollinger served as vice chairman of the LWCC board in 2011. Former Gov. Foster, previously a board member from 1991 through 1997, was recently appointed to fill a vacancy on the board. Hall has been secretary of the board since 2007.

In addition, original LWCC board member Joe D. Burns has become a director emeritus after serving 20 years on the board.

Addison, Texas-based Mullis Newby Hurst L.P. (MNH), which specializes in construction insurance and surety bonds, hired Scott Stagner as vice president in charge of development of insurance and surety accounts.

Stagner previously was with Allied North America Insurance Brokerage of Texas LLC/Aon Risk Services.

Mullis Newby Hurst LP and Little Rock, Ark.-based MNH Tullis LLC offer construction expertise, industry understanding and business knowledge to clients across the Southwest.
