Marsh & McLennan Companies’ CEO Brian Duperreault has been named chairman of the Federal Advisory Committee on Insurance (FACI). His appointment was confirmed in late March by Federal Insurance Office (FIO) Director Michael McRaith at the committee’s first meeting. FACI was formed by the U.S. Treasury to provide advice to the FIO, which was created under the Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act.

The Goldman Sachs Group, a global investment banking and securities firm, appointed former Zurich Financial Services CEO James J. Schiro to be its board’s next lead director. Additionally, Schiro will also serve as the board’s chair of the corporate governance and nominating committee. Schiro has been serving as a board director at Goldman Sachs since 2009. Schiro was CEO of Switzerland-headquartered Zurich Financial Services from May 2002 to December 2009.

Bermuda-headquartered Endurance Specialty Holdings said Michael Angelina, its chief risk officer and chief actuary, is leaving the company to take a university post in Philadelphia. Angelina will assume the position of executive director of the Academy of Risk Management and Insurance at St. Joseph’s University.

Chicago-headquartered CNA Financial Corp. appointed Bill Donovan as vice president of its Hartford, Conn., branch. Donovan will be responsible for synchronizing branch operations with CNA’s strategic goals, including increasing local authority at the point of sale and improving service to agents and brokers in these territories.

Enservio, a Needham, Mass.-based provider of property insurance analytics and affinity marketing, appointed Chris Schoettle to the newly created position of president and chief operating officer. Schoettle will be responsible for sales, service operations, engineering, product management and product marketing. Prior to Enservio, he served as executive vice president at Akamai, a Mass.-based Internet company.

St. Louis, Mo.-based Safety National Casualty Corp. said James Riviezzo joined the company as business development representative. He will be based in Safety National’s New York City regional office. Riviezzo previously served as the assistant vice president at Marsh USA. At Safety National, he will focus on business development for new and renewal accounts in eastern United States.

Mario Vitale, co-CEO of Aspen Insurance in New York, and Robert Solitro, chairman of Swiss Re Corporate Solutions U.S. Cos. in Manchester, N.H., have been elected as new board members of the American Insurance Association, an industry group based in Washington, D.C.

Cincinnati, Ohio-headquartered Great American Insurance Group said its environmental division appointed Eric McCabe as divisional assistant vice president for its newly opened New York City office. McCabe joins Great American from Chartis, where he held the title of national accounts underwriter.

MKM Partners, a research, sales and trading firm in Stamford, Conn., appointed industry veteran Harry Fong as executive director in its equity research department to cover insurance companies. Fong is an experienced insurance analyst with strong corporate and buy-side relationships. He has been covering the sector for more than 30 years, including at Ticonderoga/Soleil, Calyon and Deutsche Banc Alex. Brown.

Narragansett Bay Insurance Company, a Pawtucket, R.I.-based specialty underwriter offering homeowners insurance and services, appointed two new property claims adjusters. Kyle Yee comes from Nationwide Insurance, where he worked as property/casualty claims representative. Christopher Librizzi also comes from Nationwide Insurance, where he served as claims adjuster, property appraiser and fire investigator.

Erie, Penn.-based Erie Insurance Group announced several officer appointments and promotions.

Andrew Erman has been appointed as vice president and chief life actuary. He comes from Genworth Financial, where he was responsible for capital markets and reinsurance transactions for Genworth’s life, annuity and long-term care businesses.

William Herr has been appointed as vice president of corporate actuarial. He comes from Liberty Mutual, where he was responsible for workers’ compensation reserving.

Shasta Roca has been appointed as vice president of vendor management. Roca comes from Liberty Mutual, where she was responsible for sourcing, contracting and vendor negotiations for personal and commercial lines.

Dave Bednar has been promoted to executive office liaison.

Mark Hammerstein has been promoted to vice president of agent experience.

Bill Matrogran has been promoted to vice president of claims training. Robert McNutt has been promoted to vice president and treasurer.

Jim Vrooman has been promoted to vice president of crisis prevention and management.
