Guy Carpenter & Co. LLC, a global risk and reinsurance intermediary division of N.Y.-headquartered Marsh & McLennan Companies, appointed Andrew Marcell as chief executive officer of U.S. operations and Pete Chandler as chief operating officer of U.S. operations. Both will be based in New York City. The new appointments follow the departure of Chris McKeown, who has been serving as Guy Carpenter’s CEO of North America broking operations. McKeown will be CEO of Juniperus Capital, a Bermuda-based investment management firm that invests in insurance-related instruments. Previously, Marcell was Guy Carpenter’s CEO of global practices and head of placement strategy. Chandler, before being appointed as COO for U.S. operations, was head of Guy Carpenter’s U.S. Eastern region. Additionally, Guy Carpenter announced Kevin Fisher has been named CEO of the firm’s global specialties. Colin Kiddie will continue as chairman of global specialties.

Aon Risk Solutions, the global risk management business of London-headquartered Aon plc, hired industry veteran Kathy Jacobson as senior vice president for the Washington, D.C., office. Jacobson will provide errors and omissions expertise while managing and developing new business opportunities in the financial services sector. She most recently served as senior vice president at Seabury & Smith, a division of Marsh. Jacobson is the immediate past president of the Chartered Property Casualty Underwriters Society’s Washington, D.C., chapter.

New York-based reinsurance holding company Southport Re appointed Glenn Weber to the newly created position of chief executive officer. Southport Re is part of New York-based private equity firm Southport Lane. As the top executive at Southport Re, Weber will help the firm address its clients’ needs for effective traditional and alternative risk transfer services. Previously, Weber was managing director and practice leader at Aon plc’s risk finance and captive consulting practices.

Branchville, N.J.-headquartered Selective Insurance Group appointed Annabelle Bexiga as a new independent member to its board of directors. Bexiga is the chief information officer at TIAA-CREF, a Fortune 100 financial services organization and a provider of retirement services in the academic, medical and cultural fields. Positions prior to TIAA-CREF include chief information officer at Bain Capital and managing director at JPMorgan Invest.

ACE Westchester, the U.S.-based wholesale-focused insurance unit of the ACE Group, appointed Richard Luca as vice president of management liability for its professional risk division. He is based in the greater New York City area. He most recently served as vice president of management liability in the New York region for ACE USA, the retail-focused division of the ACE Group.

Genworth Financial Inc., based in Richmond, Va., said that Chairman and CEO Michael Fraizer has resigned, and the board has tapped Chief Financial Officer Martin Klein to fill in as CEO on an interim basis while it searches for a successor. Additionally, the board named James Riepe, a company director since 2006, non-executive chairman. Klein, who has been chief financial officer for about a year, will remain on the job while serving as the interim CEO.

Philadelphia Insurance Companies announced promotions for three marketing executives. Brian O’Reilly has been promoted from senior vice president of marketing to senior vice president of the eastern territory. He is based in the company’s Lawrenceville, N.J., office. Bill Misita has been promoted from vice president of marketing to regional vice president of marketing of the metro region. Misita is based in the Garden City, N.Y., office. Kevin McCabe has been promoted from assistant vice president to regional vice president of the metro region. He is based in the Lawrenceville, N.J., office.
