Sarasota, Fla.-headquartered property/casualty insurer FCCI Insurance Group (FCCI) recently expanded into Maryland and has hired Jeanine Ferritor as a senior marketing underwriter to develop FCCI’s independent agency relationships in the new state. Ferritor will be based in Ellicott City, Md.

Ferritor has more than 13 years of P/C industry experience with companies including Zurich, Travelers and The Hartford. Her most recent position was as a senior sales executive for Zurich in the Maryland and Washington, D.C., area.

A.M. Best Co. has opened an office in Miami, Florida to serve the market for insurance ratings in the Latin American region. The Miami office will be used for management meetings and other activities focused on the Latin American (re)insurance markets. Jorge A. Gonzalez has been appointed to manage the office. Gonzalez is an insurance and reinsurance veteran who has worked and resided in Latin America and Miami for decades. Rating analytics for Latin American companies will continue to be performed by teams based in Oldwick, New Jersey.

Don Glisson, Jr., chairman and CEO of Triad Financial Services, Jacksonville, Florida, has been appointed to serve as a member of the board of governors of the state-backed Citizens Property Insurance Corp. Florida Chief Financial Officer Jeff Atwater announced the appointment. Triad is a lender and insurance broker for the manufactured home industry.

W.R. Berkley Corp. has formed a new marine division of its Berkley Offshore Underwriting Managers operating unit. Through its New York office, Berkley Offshore will underwrite a full spectrum of marine hull and liability coverages to brownwater vessel operators, ports, terminals and other marine entities based in the U.S. and Canada.

Brian Murphy has been named vice president – marine manager of Berkley Offshore. Murphy has more than 17 years of experience in the marine insurance market and currently serves on the Hull Committee at the American Institute of Marine Underwriters.
Joining Murphy is Les Bogdan, who has been named vice president – marine liability. Bogdan has more than 24 years of insurance industry experience.

Guy Carpenter & Co. LLC, the risk and reinsurance intermediary division of Marsh & McLennan, appointed Andrew Marcell as CEO of U.S. operations and Pete Chandler as chief operating officer of U.S. operations.

The new appointments follow the departure of Chris McKeown, who has been serving as Guy Carpenter’s CEO of North America broking operations. McKeown is joining Juniperus Capital, a Bermuda-based investment management firm.

Marcell is relocating to the firm’s New York City headquarters from London, where he has been serving as Guy Carpenter’s CEO of global practices and head of placement strategy since 2010. Prior to this role, he had been based in New York, where he has served as the firm’s CEO of Americas broking operations since 2008. Since joining Guy Carpenter in 1990, Marcell has held multiple roles within the organization, including leading Continental European operations, global business development and the global casualty specialty.

Chandler, before being appointed as COO for U.S. operations, was head of Guy Carpenter’s U.S. Eastern region. Prior to relocating to New York in 2011, Chandler had served as the head of the firm’s U.S. Western region. He joined Guy Carpenter in 2009. Marcell will continue leading Guy Carpenter’s global facultative business.

Also, Kevin Fisher has been named CEO of the firm’s global specialties, comprising Lloyd’s property, retrocession, marine, aviation and North American placement.
