Wells Fargo Insurance Services has named Karin Marshall senior vice president and managing director for its Houston and San Antonio, Texas, offices. Marshall will report to Howard McClure, regional managing director for Wells Fargo Insurance’s Southwest region. A 20-year insurance industry veteran, Marshall has experience on both the carrier and broker sides of the business. Prior to joining Wells Fargo, she was senior vice president and general manager for the insurance unit of BBVA Compass in Houston. Marshall holds the designation of Certified Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU)

Dallas-based independent insurance agency, AbleCo Insurance, announced that Dave Peters has joined the agency as senior vice-president of business development. Peters has 29 years of insurance experience and specializes in commercial insurance and risk management services. Peters was recently recognized by The Hartford Insurance Co. as one of its top technology insurance professionals in the nation.

Susanne Sclafane has joined property/casualty insurance media company, Wells Media Group, as senior editor. In her new position, Sclafane will be in charge of improving the company’s content and services to meet the information needs of high-level property/casualty insurance company executives. Sclafane is an experienced insurance journalist who spent 16 years at National Underwriter Co., rising from staff writer to managing editor of that company’s flagship property/casualty magazine. Most recently, Sclafane was with the professional services firm, Advisen, where she had sole responsibility for several quarterly digital journals on management liability, employment practices liability and cyber insurance. Sclafane is based in New York. Prior to entering insurance journalism, Sclafane, who has a degree in Mathematics, worked for the National Council on Compensation Insurance, The Atlantic Mutual Companies and Coopers & Lybrand in actuarial consulting and supervisory positions. She is a fellow of the Casualty Actuarial Society and member of the American Academy of Actuaries. Wells Media Group is best known for its flagship Insurance Journal national and regional magazines, and web site, www.InsuranceJournal.com. The Independent Insurance Agents of Texas (IIAT) has named Wes Bailey, president of Bailey Insurance & Risk Management Inc. in Waco, as its newest Trusted Choice Hometown Hero. Bailey is passionate about helping his community and the two things that have shaped his professional life the most: the insurance industry and Baylor University. Bailey served for nine years as Regent at Baylor University and currently teaches a business insurance class at Baylor’s Hankamer School of Business. For his agency’s 50th anniversary, Bailey presented a $100,000 check to Baylor to establish the Bill Bailey Endowed Professorship of Insurance and Risk Management in honor of his father. He holds the Certified Insurance Counselor designation and serves on the Society of Certified Insurance Counselors national faculty.
