American International Group Inc. (AIG) named Jeremy Johnson as president and chief executive officer of its excess and surplus lines unit, Lexington Insurance Co. in Boston. Johnson replaces David Bresnahan, who left with three other AIG executives to work for Berkshire Hathaway.

Johnson will report to Robert Schimek, who was named president and chief executive officer of AIG Property Casualty’s Americas region, replacing Peter Eastwood, who also went to Berkshire Hathaway.

Johnson most recently served as specialty product line executive, U.S. & Canada, for AIG Property Casualty, overseeing business lines including aerospace, marine, environmental, SME, trade credit, political risk and surety. With AIG since 2000, Johnson has had underwriting, sales and managerial roles, including president of Cat Excess Liability, a division of Lexington Insurance; and regional vice president for Commercial Property Casualty, Mid-Atlantic region. Prior to joining AIG, Johnson was a broker for Sedgwick Inc. and Marsh Inc.

AIG also named Alexander Baugh to replace David Fields as head AIG’s global casualty business.

James P. Gainey has been hired as president of Bulldog Premium Finance, a division of Bass Underwriters. Gainey provides daily management together with operational, legal and financial advice for the company, which provides premium financing for agencies.

Prior to joining Bulldog, Gainey, an attorney, was the founding partner and lead trial counsel of two Florida based litigation law firms.

Prepared Insurance Co., a Florida domestic insurer named Stephanie E. Siewert as its chief operating officer. Siewert joined the homeowners insurance company in 2009 as vice president of sales and marketing.

In her new role as COO see will continue to oversee all sales, marketing, and product development. In addition, she will have an increased role in the day-to-day operations of the company. Prior to joining Prepared, she held executive positions with Gould and Lamb, AIG and Sunshine State Insurance Co.

Navigators Management Co. named Henry A. Lopez as president of a new professional liability unit of Navigators Specialty. Lopez, who reports to Jeff L. Saunders, president of Navigators Specialty, will be based in Chicago.

The Professional Liability unit will continue to underwrite Navigators’ existing errors and omissions (E&O) products, while expanding into niche areas and broadening opportunities for its wholesale partners.

Lopez most recently served as vice president for the U.S. western and central zones of Navigators. Prior to joining Navigators in March 2011, he held various leadership positions with the Markel Corp.

ACE USA, the U.S.-based retail operating division of the ACE Group, announced two executive appointments in its Foreign Casualty and Custom Casualty divisions.

Alexander Wells has been appointed senior vice president and national underwriting manager of the Custom Casualty Division. Wells will be based in Philadelphia, and is responsible for general and automobile liability coverage products to middle and upper middle market U.S.-based companies. He reports to Ross Bertossi, division president, ACE USA Casualty Lines. With more than 20 years in the insurance industry, Wells most recently served as senior vice president, ACE Excess Casualty. He began his career at a large global carrier.

Craig Hanrahan has been appointed senior vice president, foreign casualty cash flow within the Foreign Casualty Division. Based in New York City, he will report to Bryan Tedford, senior vice president, ACE Foreign Casualty. With nearly 25 years of insurance industry experience, Hanrahan most recently served as senior vice president and global client executive since 2010. Prior to that position, he spent 19 years with a global broker based in New York City.
