Mike Gerik, executive vice president of Texas Farm Bureau Insurance Cos., has been elected president of the Association of Fire and Casualty Companies in Texas (AFACT).

Gerik, whose term as AFACT president runs for two years, also chairs the board of directors at the Texas Windstorm Insurance Association.

AFACT board members elected Paul Ehlert, president of Germania Insurance, as vice president. Ron Lawson, vice president of marketing for the Republic Group, was elected secretary/treasurer.

Ty Simmons, vice president, corporate counsel and secretary at Union Standard Insurance Co., serves as director at large. Lyndell Haigood, regional vice president of State Auto Insurance Co., is immediate past president.

Wholesale insurance broker and managing general agency, Towerstone, announced that Jeffrey Hubbard has joined the company as director of its new environmental practice in Dallas.

Hubbard brings more than 20 years of experience and expertise in the environmental risk insurance business. He previously served as an underwriter and underwriting executive with XL Environmental, Zurich Environmental and AIG Environmental. He also served in a risk management capacity with a Fortune 500 company.

CPro Associates, a Dallas-based surplus lines wholesaler and managing general agency, added Gay Morris and Stephanie Arsenault in its brokerage department.

Morris previously worked at RISC in broker and underwriting positions for six years. She also has 13 years’ experience in reinsurance, with National Reinsurance Corp. and CNA Re. Morris will joining Toni Campbell, Ryan Sullivan and Jan Savage as a part of the SBU: Roar.

A broker at CPro, Arsenault previously worked as a commercial underwriter for McCelland and Hine in Dallas.

Property/casualty insurance wholesaler, IMS/London American, added Don Lundy as vice president/branch manager for its San Antonio, Texas, location.

Lundy most recently was vice president of property/casualty for Hallmark Specialty Underwriters. He also previously served Hallmark Specialty Underwriters and the former TGA Insurance Managers as a multi-lines underwriter and software designer.

Oklahoma City-based INSURICA Insurance Management Network hired David Winans as associate director of sales development in its Plano, Texas, office.

A 21-year veteran of the insurance industry, Winans worked for a large Dallas insurance agency as a producer and sales manager for several years. Winans also spent 14 years with Liberty Mutual, as an underwriter, producer, regional sales director for national accounts, and senior construction account executive.

Gov. Mary Fallin appointed attorney Robert Gilliland and insurance official Denise Engle to fill the final two spots on the newly created Oklahoma Workers’ Compensation Commission.

Engle will step down as deputy insurance commissioner to accept the appointment.

Fallin earlier appointed Troy Wilson as the commission’s chairman.

USG Insurance Services Inc. has expanded its Louisiana operations with the return of Gina Lee as a producer/broker based in Mandeville, La.

Lee most recently was branch manager at Equity Partners Insurance Services Inc. Previous roles include production manager/brokerage manager at USG Insurance Services, commercial agent/branch manager at Hartwig Moss Ins. Ltd., and house producer/account manager at J. Everett Eaves.
