Florida Chief Financial Officer Jeff Atwater has named Steve Burgess as the state’s new insurance consumer advocate. Burgess previously served in that role from 2004 to 2007 and from 1990 to 1997. Most recently, he was the staff director for the Florida Senate Banking and Insurance Committee.

Clint Brewer has joined Lockton’s Southeast U.S. operations as regional practice leader for Lockton Global. He will help deliver services, including Lockton’s international resources, to the region.

Brewer brings eight years of experience in the commercial insurance industry with an emphasis on programs for U.S. multinational clients. He is fluent in Spanish and has worked abroad in Madrid, Spain. Prior to joining Lockton, Brewer worked as an International Account Executive at Aon Risk Solutions in Charlotte, N.C. Brewer will operate out of the Lockton Atlanta office.

American International Group Inc. hired Seraina Maag from XL Group Plc to run AIG’s Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) regional operations. Maag, 45, will be CEO of the EMEA region and report to property-casualty CEO Peter Hancock, New York-based AIG said in a statement. Maag was previously CEO for North American property and casualty at XL.

Maag replaces Robert Schimek, who was EMEA CEO before AIG named him to oversee Americas property/casualty. His predecessor in the U.S., Peter Eastwood, left for Berkshire Hathaway’s new specialty firm this year. Nicholas Walsh, vice chairman of AIG property-casualty, led EMEA on an interim basis.

Maag will be based in London and oversee operations in 47 countries, AIG said. The Americas region is AIG’s largest, accounting for about 51 percent of property-casualty coverage sold in the first half of this year. Asia-Pacific is No. 2, followed by EMEA.

Daytona Beach, Fla.-based brokerage Brown & Brown Inc. announced that Cory T. Walker, who has been serving as senior vice president, treasurer and chief financial officer, will retire from the firm effective in March 2014.

Brown & Brown also announced that it has commenced a search for a successor to Walker.

Walker joined Brown & Brown in 1992, and served as chief financial officer for 17 of the past 22 years, and as profit center leader for the Oakland, Calif., office of Brown & Brown of California Inc. for five years in the late 1990s. Prior to joining Brown & Brown, he served as a certified public accountant and senior audit manager for Ernst & Young LLP.

Senn Dunn Insurance in Greensboro, North Carolina has named Wanda C. Ladd as director of human resources for the statewide agency. Ladd brings 18 years of experience in the human resource field. Prior to joining Senn Dunn, she was in the consulting, manufacturing, and financial services industries.

Novato, Calif.-based Fireman’s Fund Insurance Co. named Jay Dipasupil vice president of professional liability. Dipasupil will lead Fireman’s Fund’s professional liability business, and will be responsible for managing the professional liability line of business, specifically professional services and healthcare.

Dipasupil has 27 years of insurance industry experience. He has been with Fireman’s Fund as vice president of programs since February of this year.

Prior to Fireman’s Fund, Dipasupil led the specialty solutions group at AIG and was responsible for the development and execution of underwriting, production and distribution management for its professional liability products. Before AIG, he held underwriting and leadership roles with Travelers and Zurich.
