The president and CEO of the insurer of military families, USAA, announced he will retire from USAA in the first quarter of 2015.

“It has been my privilege to work at USAA for nearly 20 years. However, in early 2015, it will be time for me to pass leadership of this great association to the next CEO,” said Maj. Gen. Josue “Joe” Robles Jr., U.S. Army (Ret.). “Retiring one year from now will be the right time for USAA, and right for my family and me.”

USAA Chairman of the Board Gen. Lester Lyles, USAF (Ret.) said the USAA board of directors has a “succession plan in place, which includes a comprehensive internal and external search for USAA’s next CEO” and expects to announce a successor for Robles by the end of 2014.

After serving on the USAA board of directors from 1990 to 1994 while on active duty, Robles joined the company in 1994 as chief financial officer and controller.

He also served as corporate treasurer and chief administrative officer before assuming the role of CEO and president in 2007.

Disabled Veterans Insurance Careers, which helps disabled U.S. veterans by providing training and employment in the insurance industry, has named Philip L. Tuccy as a regional director.

Tuccy owns Insurance Group Consulting LLC, an insurance consulting business in southwest Florida. He consults primarily with insurance agencies.

He has 40 years of insurance industry experience including marketing, claims, loss control and various management positions.

Tuccy is an associate member of the American Association of Insurance Management Consultants.

DVIC was founded in 2012 by insurance agents Gary Trippe and James Pender of Oswald Trippe and Co.

The organization’s operating board consists of retired U.S. Army Maj. Gen. James L. Dozier; Roger C. Mercado Jr., Community Cooperative Ministries Inc.; James R. Pender, Oswald Trippe and Co., co-founder; Gary V. Trippe, Oswald Trippe and Co., co-founder; retired U.S. Army Lt. Col. Gary L. Bryant, president and CEO; Kathy Pender; retired insurance agency executive Gay Trippe; and John M. Pollock, BB&T Insurance Services.

In addition to Tuccy, DVIC’s regional directors include Bill Knepper, The Knepper Co. Inc.; Kevin McPoyle, KMRD Partners Inc.; Josh Morgan, MarshBerry; Paul T. Murphy, Paul Murphy Insurance Agency; Walter Page, Semans Insurance Group; Chris Paradiso, Paradiso Insurance; Nick San Filippo, American Insurance Services Agency; M. Disabled Veterans Insurance Careers, based in Fort Myers, Fla., is a nonprofit organization with mission to educate, train and generate meaningful employment opportunities for physically disabled veterans in cross-selling personal lines insurance products on behalf of independent insurance agencies.

Jodi Marturano has joined the Ted Todd Insurance Agency as its human resource manager at the corporate home office in Bonita Springs, Florida.

She will oversee human resources operations in all seven agency offices located in Bonita Springs, Estero, Fort Myers / Lehigh Acres, Cape Coral, Sarasota, Viera, and Delray Beach.

Day-to-day responsibilities will include recruiting, orientation, training, and personnel supervision, as well as some operations and technology oversight.

Marturano was formerly with Verizon Wireless for 14 years in Connecticut before being transferred to southwest Florida in 2011. Her roles included sales recruiting, sales and merchandizing, and customer service.

Ted Todd Insurance Agency represents Allstate.

Hugh Brewer has been appointed to the St. Johns Insurance Co. board of directors.

Brewer brings experience in the reinsurance industry as well as the property insurance field, with an emphasis in high risk catastrophe regions.

He retired in 2011 as a senior managing director of Aon Benfield in Stamford, Conn. after a career as a reinsurance broker with Aon that spanned 26 years.

He began his career as an underwriter with General Reinsurance Corp. in New York.

St. Johns Insurance Co. sells home, condominium and umbrella insurance in Florida and South Carolina. It is headquartered in Orlando, Fla.

GEICO announced Lona Montgomery has been named assistant vice president of centralized services in the company’s Macon, Ga., regional office. Montgomery previously served as director of sales and service in the company’s Coralville, Iowa, office.

In her new assignment, she will oversee GEICO’s centralized services division, which handles functions such as emergency road service, mechanical breakdown insurance, glass losses and accounts receivable for the entire organization.

Montgomery began her career in GEICO’s San Diego regional office in 1990.
