Novato, Calif.-based Fireman’s Fund Insurance Co. named Robyn Hahn its chief marketing officer.

Hahn is responsible for developing and executing Fireman’s Fund’s marketing and communications strategy.

Hann has 20 years of experience in the insurance industry. She has held several marketing and sales leadership positions, most recently as vice president and chief marketing officer for the business insurance area of The Travelers Companies. Prior to that, she spent 15 years at Nationwide in a variety of roles, including vice president of marketing and sales.

Alan Gellman

Esurance, the direct-to-consumer insurance company, said that Alan Gellman has joined the company as chief marketing officer. Gellman will oversee all of Esurance’s marketing and advertising efforts, including direct marketing, online and offline advertising, search, brand partnerships, communications and customer experience.

Esurance is owned by Allstate Insurance.

Most recently at Wells Fargo in San Francisco, Gellman spent the past 10 years in various executive marketing roles, including senior vice president of digital marketing. He also led the lead agency of record search and focused on integrating marketing efforts and capabilities across disciplines. Previously, he led strategy, research, and analytics for Wells Fargo’s consumer credit group.

Gellman began his marketing career in advertising before moving to consumer packaged goods with General Foods, Kraft and ConAgra. Later, he spent six years with Blue Shield of California.

Gellman will report to President and CEO Gary Tolman and be based at Esurance’s San Francisco headquarters.

ACE Group has created a Global Cyber Risk Practice as customer demands for cyber risk insurance and risk management solutions grow.

To lead the new global unit, ACE has appointed Toby Merrill as division senior vice president, Global Cyber Risk Practice. Merrill was formerly vice president and national product manager for ACE’s network security, privacy and technology errors and omissions liability products in the U.S.

In his new role, he will bring together the underwriting capabilities and services of ACE’s existing cyber risk-related business units around the world for brokers and clients regardless of location.

Based in Philadelphia, Merrill will report jointly to Tim O’Donnell, executive vice president, Financial Lines, ACE Overseas General, and Scott Meyer, division president, Professional Lines, ACE USA.

Jerry Hourihan has been named president of American International Group’s (AIG) Private Client Group for the U.S. and Canada. He will report to Ralph Mucerino, CEO of Consumer Regional, Americas.

Hourihan will be a high net worth client advocate and be responsible for development, implementation and execution of strategies in the Private Client Group business in the U.S. and Canada. He will also direct the division’s distribution organization.

Most recently, Hourihan served as executive vice president and chief marketing officer for AIG Personal Lines in the U.S. and Canada. He joined AIG Private Client Group in 2002 as a zone manager for the division’s Eastern zone. He also managed strategic sales for AIG’s Office of the Customer, and previously served as the division’s national sales and marketing manager.

Before joining AIG, Hourihan spent 16 years with Chubb in a number of management positions.

ACE Group announced that David Charlton has been appointed president of the Property and Casualty and Micro-business Division for ACE Commercial Risk Services. He will lead ACE’s expansion efforts into the property/casualty package and the micro specialty lines market for select small businesses.

Charlton joins ACE with 26 years of insurance experience. Charlton joins ACE from United States Liability Insurance Co., where he most recently served as executive vice president and chief underwriting officer.

In his new role, Charlton will report directly to Juan C. Andrade, ACE Group executive vice president and global head of Personal Lines and Small Commercial Insurance.

Charlton will team with David Lupica, division president, ACE Commercial Risk Services, in the small commercial arena by developing package and specialty lines capabilities for ACE’s smaller commercial lines customers.

The Independent Insurance Agents & Brokers of America recently awarded agent Cloyce Anders of North Carolina with the Woodworth Memorial Award, the highest honor the association bestows.

Anders has a long record of service to the Independent Insurance Agents of North Carolina. In addition to serving as IIANC president, he has been named Agent of the Year and been given the Lifetime Achievement award.

At the national level, Anders served as president of the association. He was a leader in the Big “I” E&O program and was the original architect of the Big “I” Reinsurance Corp. Anders was also one of the founders of the political action committee InsurBanc, and served on the Peyton Street Holding Co. board overseeing the bank.
