Retail insurance broker EPIC (Edgewood Partners Insurance Center) has hired former Integro President and CEO Peter Garvey as chief operating officer based in New York.

In this newly created position, Garvey will be responsible for driving EPIC’s regional growth strategies, particularly in the Northeast. He also joins EPIC’s executive leadership team in the ongoing execution of the firm’s national expansion strategy. Garvey will also become a member of the firm’s operating committee. He reports to EPIC CEO John Hahn.

Prior to joining EPIC, Garvey served as president and CEO of Integro, the New York-based brokerage he co-founded in 2005 following a 25-year career with Marsh.

EPIC, which reports $150 million in revenues, is headquartered in California’s Silicon Valley.

Marsh & McLennan Companies Inc. has appointed Mark McGivney as senior vice president, Corporate Finance, reporting to Chief Financial Officer Mike Bischoff.

McGivney will be responsible for overseeing the Corporate Development, Investor Relations, and Treasury functions. Since 2011, McGivney has served as chief financial officer and chief operating officer of Mercer, the MMC human resources and retirement consulting unit. From 2007 to 2011, he was chief financial officer of MMC’s insurance brokerage unit Marsh.

Before joining Marsh, McGivney held senior positions at The Hanover Insurance Group.

Wells Fargo Insurance, part of Wells Fargo & Company, has named Kyle Samuel managing director for its Metro Washington, D.C., and Virginia offices.

Samuel joins Wells Fargo Insurance from Aon Risk Services where he was senior vice president and resident sales director for the capital region responsible for developing and managing insurance, risk management, and human capital strategies for upper middle market clients.

Penn National Insurance in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, announced that Robert Brandon has been named executive vice president and chief operating officer, responsible for the insurance operations of the company.

Brandon’s promotion becomes effective Dec. 31., when Christine Sears, executive vice president and COO, who was named president and CEO-elect earlier this year, will succeed Kenneth Shutts as president and CEO, upon his retirement.

Concurrent with Brandon’s naming as executive vice president and COO, John Foster has been appointed vice president – Underwriting Operations, and John Buchenauer, III, has been appointed vice president – Personal Lines. Both appointments are effective Dec. 31.

Underwriting manager Victor O. Schinnerer & Company Inc. in Chevy Chase, Maryland, has hired Scott P. Thomas as senior vice president and senior underwriting manager leading the firm’s property/casualty segment of its Architects & Engineers program and the International P/C program.

Thomas comes to Schinnerer from AIG where he served as a regional casualty executive.

HUB International Northeast, part of Hub International Limited, has hired Thomas Delark as chief marketing officer. He is based in New York City.

Delark will be responsible for overseeing Hub Northeast’s carrier relationships and implementing marketing initiatives across the region’s geographic footprint.

Before joining Hub, Delark served as managing director of Aon GRIP Solutions, where he was responsible for executive level carrier relationship management and directly prior to that, he served as regional practice leader, Middle Market, for Aon Risk Solutions.

Markel Corporation in Glen Allen, Virginia, promoted Rebecca Swanson to managing director, Miscellaneous Errors & Omissions/Information Technology/Data Breach for its product line leadership team.

Swanson has been with Markel for 18 years. She held various management positions within Markel’s professional and data breach product disciplines and has been part of Markel’s product line leadership team since 2009.

Privately-held insurance broker Lockton appointed Peter Rapciewicz as vice president in its Risk Finance Practice in New York City.

Rapciewicz comes to Lockton from AIG where he most recently served as vice president of the Alternative Risk Division. In his new role, Rapciewicz will provide strategic consultation and implementation on program design, collateral strategies, captive consultation, and alternative risk programs for clients across the country.

SterlingRisk, a national insurance brokerage based in Woodbury, New York, has hired Barry Wolf as executive vice president of the Aviation Division.

Prior to joining SterlingRisk, he was insurance risk manager for International Lease Finance Corporation (ILFC).
