The Independent Insurance Agents of Wisconsin (IIAW) recognized several leaders at Robertson Ryan & Associates (RRA) for their insurance industry achievements.

Jason Bott was recognized for his time on the IIAW Board of Directors with a Noble Eagle Award and he was accepted to the IIAW Executive Committee as secretary-treasurer. Bott has been with RRA since 2004 and is a vice president and partner in the firm’s Milwaukee office.

Tim Kakuska was recognized as Committee Chairman of the Year Award for his work on the Technical Committee. Kakuska has been with RRA since 2006 and is a vice president and partner in the La Crosse office.

Dan Lau was recognized as Emerging Leader of the Year. Lau has been with RRA since 2014 and is the manager of Insurance Placement in Milwaukee.

Mike Walston was recognized for his time on the IIAW Board of Directors with a Noble Eagle Award. Walston has been with RRA since 2014 and is a vice president based in the Kewaunee office.

Founded in 1960, Robertson Ryan & Associates Inc. offers a broad range of products and services for Business, Benefits and Personal insurance.

Specialty insurer RLI Corp. promoted Dan Meyer to president, RLI Transportation Division.

Meyer succeeds Dave Dunn, who recently departed the company to pursue other opportunities.

Meyer joined RLI in 2000 as a claim manager and transitioned to underwriting in 2006. He has been a member of the RLI Transportation Division for 16 years, serving for the past 10 years as head of truck underwriting.

Prior to joining RLI, Meyer was a partner and civil litigation attorney with Savell & Williams.

Fort Wayne, Ind.-based DOXA Insurance Holdings LLC (DOXA) has named Timothy Wiggins as chief operating officer and managing partner.

DOXA, launched in April 2016, is a holding company focused on managing general agents (MGAs).

Wiggins has nearly 22 years of insurance-oriented IT and operations experience. He has held the positions of vice president of Operations and chief information officer at The Medical Protective Company (Berkshire Hathaway), several IT leadership roles with GE Insurance, and various consulting roles with EDS Insurance (now HP Enterprise Services).

J.P. Wieske has been appointed deputy commissioner in Wisconsin’s Office of the Commissioner of Insurance (OCI).

He previously served as legislative liaison and public information officer for the OCI.

Wieske has more than 20 years of experience working in the insurance industry. He is the chair of the NAIC’s Regulatory Framework Task Force and has served as chair of the NAIC’s Network Adequacy Subgroup.

Prior to his appointment as legislative liaison/PIO, Wieske served as the executive director of the Council of Affordable Health Insurance. In that capacity, he co-authored numerous publications related to timely health insurance issues and testified on insurance issues in state legislatures across the country.

Burns & Wilcox Brokerage appointed industry veteran Adrian Smith and a team of three specialty insurance brokers to enhance its brokerage capabilities in Chicago.

Smith joins the Chicago office as senior vice president. He brings more than 20 years of specialty insurance experience, an extensive background in casualty brokerage and strong industry relationships.

He is joined by property/casualty brokerage specialists Steve Bartell, Jody Oster and Erich Steinhaus.

Together, the four-person team brings more than 60 years of excess and surplus (E&S) brokerage experience to the office.

Insurance broker Lockton’s Chicago employee benefits operation added Arturo Fisher as a global total rewards consultant.

Fisher has more than 27 years of experience in global HR consulting. Fisher most recently served as vice president of the International Practice at HUB International Midwest, and principal and director of the International Consulting Practice at Laurus Strategies, now a HUB International company. Fisher was also managing director at Global Reward Solutions and a Partner at Hewitt Associates, now Aon Hewitt.

ITS, a Dallas-based insurance technology consulting and services firm, hired Marti Daniels as vice president of business development for the Midwest.

Daniels brings significant industry experience to ITS, with more than 23 years in insurance at companies such as Blue Cod Technologies, Stillwater Insurance (formerly Fidelity National Property & Casualty Insurance Co.) and Insurance Technologies Corp.
