The Insurance Council of Texas (ICT) elected Thomas Fitzpatrick as chair of the ICT board of directors. His term begins Jan. 1, 2018.

Fitzpatrick has served on the ICT board since 2008 and most recently served as vice chair in 2016-17. Fitzpatrick is the senior vice president and Houston branch manager for Chubb. He is responsible for profit and loss, staff development, strategic direction and agent/broker relationships for business produced in the Houston territory, which also includes east Texas and Louisiana.

Other ICT officers elected for 2018-19: Vice Chairman John Stuckemeyer, counsel for State Farm’s Corporate Law Department; Treasurer David Lavergne, regional president for the Travelers Companies; and Secretary John Schramm, vice president and branch manager for CNA.

Bob Zeman, corporate counsel for Allstate, will serve as immediate past chair.

Scott Margraves has been elected to serve as president of the Independent Insurance Agents of Houston (IIAH). His term ends Aug. 31, 2018.

Margraves is a commercial lines producer for TDECU Insurance Agency LLC. He has been with TDECU for three years. Prior to TDECU, he was with W. M. Jones and Company, Bowen Miclette and Britt and BancorpSouth/GEM Insurance. His client base consists of medium sized businesses.

Margraves holds the CIC professional insurance designation. He continues to serve on IIAH’s Legislative Committee and is chairman for IIAH’s annual IMPACT solicitation drive.

In addition, the following were elected as officers of IIAH: President-Elect Wesley Kurtz, Pathfinder LL & D Insurance Group; Vice President Stuart Ray, Higginbotham Insurance; Treasurer Chris Goff, HARCO Insurance Services; Immediate Past President Daphne B. Clark, Hotchkiss Insurance Agency; and Secretary Carole Shelton.

New directors include: Brett Herrington, Marsh and McLennan Agency; Ryan Moorehead, All Risks Ltd.; Jason Nybakken, IBC Insurance Agency; and Charles M. Vieau, HUB International Insurance Services.

Alliant Employee Benefits, a division of Newport Beach, Calif.-based Alliant Insurance Services, has tapped Dallas-based Alan Dale to add additional strength to its life and disability practice.

As first vice president, Dale will play a lead consulting role within the growing practice, while also providing essential consulting support to Alliant Employee Benefits’ absence management practice.

A 26-year employee benefits veteran, Dale has experience working with large-to-midsized clients across a broad range of industries. In his role at Alliant, he will focus on serving a diverse portfolio of existing clients while developing new relationships throughout the region.

Prior to joining Alliant, Dale spent 12 years as a principal in one of the nation’s largest employee benefits firms. In this position, he served as the central region leader of the company’s life, disability, and absence management practice. He also has extensive consulting experience on the carrier side of the business.

Barbara F. Young has been reappointed to the Louisiana Workers’ Compensation Corp.’s (LWCC) board of directors.

Based in Shreveport, Young is a self-employed consultant and serves as an at-large member.

LWCC is a private, Nonprofit corporation which operates as a domestic mutual insurer to provide workers’ compensation insurance, a residual market, and services related to workers’ compensation insurance for the benefit of Louisiana employers.

Young was appointed to the board by Gov. John Bel Edwards.

Covington, Louisiana-based Fidelis Group Holdings LLC (FGH), and subsidiaries Continental Underwriters Ltd. (CU) and Fidelis Claims Service LLC (FCS), hired Christian Kelly as senior director of their Claims Division.

Kelly has 15 years of experience in the insurance industry, specializing in marine, energy, property, space, cyber and other non-marine claims. He most recently served as executive director, global head of Claims of London, UK, with Thomas Miller Specialty. Prior to Thomas Miller, he was a consultant with Sheehy Ware & Pappas, and a law partner at Davies Arnold Cooper and Cozen O’Connor, respectively.

Fidelis Group Holdings LLC provides specialty insurance products with emphasis on primary and excess marine liabilities, ocean cargo, hull and machinery and inland marine insurance for business owners, vessel operators, ship builders, terminal operators, fleet operators, stevedores, cargo handlers, marine contractors, warehousemen, distributors, manufacturers, shippers, logistics operators, armored cars, fine arts and other specialty businesses.
