In a move to expand and perpetuate the company’s future growth, Bolton and Company Insurance Brokers, one of the largest privately held insurance brokers in the United States, announced the relocation of its corporate headquarters to a Pasadena, Calif. building formerly occupied by Chicago Title Company.

According to William Bolton, CEO and chairman of the board, “Bolton & Co. has grown significantly over the past 10 years. The company’s growth has resulted in our need to expand.”

Bolton & Co. retained Cushman & Wakefield, an international real estate services firm, to represent them in locating optimal space in the Pasadena area to meet their 40,000+ square foot requirement. Robert M. Fitzgerald of Cushman & Wakefield successfully negotiated a long-term lease with the landlord Chicago Title Company for 42,321 square feet at 245 South Los Robles in Pasadena.

“We now have space to accommodate our planned internal growth as well as future acquisitions,” Bolton said. “In the past we have been unable to accommodate acquisition opportunities because of space limitations. Now we can and will pursue those opportunities.”

The move to the building near Old Town is part of a master growth plan for Bolton & Co., a full service, large regional broker, which began in 1931 with Dorance D. Bolton working out of a 10 x 20 office with a single desk and telephone. Sons Bill and Jim Bolton took over the agency in 1970 with less than $500,000 in premium writings.

Today that number exceeds $150 million. Through Assurex International, the third-largest broker organization in the U.S., Bolton & Co. can provide local service in any state, 61 countries and all major trading areas.

“Steve Brockmeyer is already in place as president as we transition over the course of the next decade to a management team consisting of existing employees,” Bolton said. “We believe this will be a model in insurance agency perpetuation and the development of a strong new management team.”
