Catastrophe insurance specialist International Catastrophe Insurance Managers has entered the North Carolina market. ICAT Managers provides windstorm insurance to businesses operating in coastal areas that often lack adequate insurance protection.
“North Carolina is a volatile market that has been battered by storms in recent years — the potential for windstorm damage is high, making adequate coverage essential. Some of the most exposed businesses are also the most underserved,” said Jack Graham, ICAT chief executive officer. “ICAT was founded with business owners of small to medium sized businesses in mind. We are committed to ensuring this segment of the market has access to adequate catastrophe coverage.”
ICAT, which also underwrites catastrophe-exposed risks in Alabama, California, Florida, Mississippi, the Pacific Northwest and Texas, will offer a wind/hail insurance policy written on a full replacement cost basis. Coverage is available for commercial risks with values up to $15 million per location.
The company will offer windstorm protection through licensed insurance agents throughout North and South Carolina. These agents access ICAT directly or through a select group of quality wholesalers.
ICAT has a team of individuals dedicated to the Carolinas including Greg Kemp, Regional Vice President, based out of the company’s Charlotte, N.C. office and Cathy Schablitsky, Regional Underwriting Manager, based out of the company’s Boulder, Colo. office.
