New York State Insurance Deparment(NYSID) Superintendent Gregory V. Serio announced that an investigation into a suspected fraudulent no fault and lost wages claim has resulted in the arrest of Charles Sirigiano, 61 of Clifton Park, New York.

Charges were lodged against Sirigiano for filing a no fault claim which contained false statements. He allegedly claimed that he was employed up until the date of his accident and as a result of the accident was unable to return to his employment, but the investigation revealed that the business he was employed by closed prior to his accident.

He was arrested following a joint investigation conducted by the NYSID’s Frauds Bureau and the Albany County Sheriff’s Department. Following his arrest on May 1, Sirigiano was charged with “Insurance Fraud 3rd degree, a class D felony, Grand Larceny 3rd degree and Falsifying Business Records 1st degree, a class E felony,” said the announcement. He was arraigned in the Town of Colonie Court; and is being held on $15,000.00 bail. His next court appearance is scheduled for June 12, 2002. If convicted of these charges, he faces up to 11 years in state prison.
