October 22, 2002

The Insurance Brokers’ Association of the State of New York (IBANY) announced it would present its inaugural Insurer of the Year award to Chubb & Son Thursday, Oct. 24 at The Down Town Association, New York, N.Y. starting at 4:30 p.m.

“We are pleased to present our first Insurer of the Year award to Chubb & Son,” said Dick Impastato, president of IBANY. “This year’s award recognizes the insurance carrier that has shown the most leadership, responsiveness and creativity during this difficult year for the country, the city and the insurance industry.”

Chubb & Son was chosen with extensive input from IBANY’s broker members based on customer service, consistent and fair coverage terms, innovative products and coverage enhancement, and professional handling of claims.

“It is an honor to be chosen as the first recipient of the Insurer of the Year award,” said Tom Motamed, executive vice president and chief operating officer of Chubb & Son. “It is especially rewarding because our peers have chosen us as a leader in service during the course of the year.”

IBANY also will present an award to New York State Insurance Department Superintendent Gregory V. Serio for his extraordinary leadership of the New York insurance marketplace. Immediately following the presentation, a reception will serve as a networking opportunity for commercial insurance brokers and company executives, underwriters, marketers and claims representatives. More than 400 insurance company officials and brokers are expected to attend.

Advance tickets are $65 for members and $85 for nonmembers. Tickets are available at the door at $75 for members and $95 for nonmembers; however, pre-registration is required for Serio’s address and the awards presentation. Contact Kristi Carr at (212) 962-7771 to pre-register.
