PIANY Appoints Alan Plafker and Edward Joseph as New Directors

the Professional Insurance Agents of New York State Inc. announced the appointment of Alan Plafker and Edward Joseph, CPIA, as new members of its board of directors.

Plafker is president and chief executive officer of Member Brokerage Service LLC in Long Island City, N.Y. His agency has been a PIANY member since 2000, and he has been a member with former agencies since 1980. Plafker serves as a member of the Government Affairs and Industry Liaison Committees.

He is also active in his community, serving on the board of managers for the Melrose Credit Union Service Organization, and as a Little League coach and sailing instructor. He’s also a certified defensive driving instructor.

Joseph is CEO of Mitchell-Joseph Agency in Naples, N.Y., and has been active in the association, serving on the PIANY’s Education/Conference and Government Affairs Committees. He is also a member of the Syracuse Regional Advisory Council.

Joseph has been a member of PIANY since 2001. He is also active in his community serving as a member of the Chamber of Commerce and Rotary Club. He is president and was one of the founders of Hospeace House, a 4 bed hospice. In 2002 he received a National Community Service Award from Rough Notes Magazine for his work with Hospeace House.
