August 1, 2003

For the past 20 years, the Professional Insurance Agents of New Jersey Inc. has hosted its annual PIANJ Golf Classic, which in conjunction with other events including the Fun Run, has raised nearly $1,500,000 for Special Olympics New Jersey. PIANJ plans to continue its success with this year’s competition, Monday, Sept. 15, 2003 at the Upper Montclair Country Club in Clifton, N.J.

“We are extremely proud of our long-standing partnership with Special Olympics New Jersey and the evolution of the Golf Classic,” said Steven Reichman, NIA Group, who is both PIANJ’s past president and the Golf Classic chairman. “What started as a way to support a worthy cause, has become a source of fun and camaraderie. We look forward to continuing our relationship in the future.”

Over the years, the Golf Classic has given its participants the opportunity to play at some of the state’s finest private golf clubs with many notable Professional Golfers’ Association players. This year’s event, sponsored by The Mercer Insurance Group, will feature golf celebrity Scott Simpson and ESPN Sportscaster Jack Ford. Additional the event will feature contests such as a hole-in-one competition, low gross, low net, team best ball, straightest shot, longest drive and closest to the pin.

The golf package is $350 per person and includes all golfing fees, golfer gifts, and all food events—from refreshments to dinner with cocktails.
