PIACT, PIANY Prepare Annual Company Surveys

January 12, 2004

The Professional Insurance Agents of Connecticut Inc. and of New York State Inc. will each conduct a member survey to gauge insurance producers’ views of their companies in the two states.

The month-long surveys, which have been highly successful in previous years, will be launched today, Jan. 12, 2004, and will be available by logging on to: http://www.piaonline.org/GIA/survey/insurance/ct.php and http://www.piaonline.org/GIA/survey/insurance/ny.php, respectively.

“This is the third year we’ve conducted the survey and the popularity and participation in the survey continues to grow,” said Robert B. Gyle, IV, CIC, president of PIACT. “What really makes this year exciting is that we’re getting to the point where we’ve collected enough data to draw comparisons and view trends of how agents see the insurance companies they work with on a daily basis.”

Following the success of the PIACT survey, PIANY decided to launch its own last year. The survey will allow New York State producers to rank their companies on similar criteria.

“Agents are the front line for companies to their customers,” said PIANY President T.J. Derella, CPIA. “The value in this survey is that it helps both the producers and the companies do a better job.”

Last year approximately 77 agencies throughout Connecticut and 208 in New York state participated in the survey, returning 387 evaluation forms in Connecticut and 923 in New York.

This year approximately 15 insurance companies will be evaluated in Connecticut and 27 in New York.
